I bet if it came out today it would be PG-13 and they would take out all the gore and dumb it down.

I think it might be OOP on Blu-ray.

I wanted to love it but it was just ok though a story I never heard about and I am not paying for Amazon Prime right now so I should not complain

It was recently released on Blu-ray by Vinegar Syndrome.

Shout's "The Fly Collection" is available. It has the original and it's sequel, the remake and it's sequel and a Hammer film ("Curse of the Fly").

The Losers - Thought this was thoroughly mediocre. I had seen it before, and for some reason I had also bought the Blu-ray. (HBO Max)

How Do You Know - This film got middling reviews, but I've always had a real soft spot for it. It also appears that it will be Nicholson's final movie. Given the quality of his performance in the Departed, and the Bucket List, and this, that is probably for the best. (hulu)

Amazon Prime

It was ok but overrated compared to the reviews where it is in the 90's at rotten tomatoes.

It is not that good though not horrible either.

It was kind of ridiculous to look at Shia this young man as a old dude with a receding hairline.

That was hard to overcome.

I guess this is the movie where Shia met FKA Twigs and their abusive relationship began.

The Man Who Wasn't There. I enjoyed the noir story, where things just keep getting worse after the Billy Bob Thornton makes a bad choice. I don't understand what point the Coens were making with the philosophical underpinnings. Existential ennui? I'm bad at that kind of thing. Shot in glorious black and white by Roger Deakins, who's not above showing off a bit. It was a lot more enjoyable than A Serious Man.

Wolf of Snow Hollow Warner Bros BD
Jim Cummings, Riki Lindhome. Directed by Jim Cummings. 2020
The sheriff of a small resort town struggles with his sobriety and an apparent string of Werewolf attacks.

This is a quirky "Picket Fences" (David E Kelley's TV series) approach to a "Werewolf" story, filled with oddball characters and off-beat plot-turns. Personally, while I liked Jim Cummings as a Writer/Director, I hated Jim Cummings as the lead actor and his broad mugging just sabotaged every single scene he was in.

Watched a documentary on Kanopy called "Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets." It's story of the last day of business at some dive bar in Vegas. It's pretty good. It's getting great buzz, too.

Radius (2017) - on TubiTV Canada

This under-the-radar science fiction thriller didn't have a $50 million marketing campaign and would certainly never be accused of having too much star power, although I'm sure folks who watch more TV than I do can tell you exactly what Diego Klattenhoff and Charlotte Sullivan have been in.

What this little movie has going for it is a killer premise: a man (Klattenhoff) who has no memory after being in a traffic accident slowly realizes that he has some sort of death field surrounding him that will instantly kill any living thing that gets too close to him. Early on, he has no idea why people and animals are just dropping dead, and he makes entirely reasonable assumptions (albeit incorrect ones) about what is happening. After he eventually discovers himself to be the cause, he gets thrown for a loop when an amnesiac woman (Sullivan) tracks him down and appears to be immune to the death field.

The two main characters in this movie are intelligent and rational people, but neither has any scientific background or special knowledge that would help them understand the bizarre phenomenon. So they go about as best as average people can trying to unravel the mystery while doing everything in their power to not kill innocent bystanders by accident.

This is a great mystery as it steadily drip feeds details that hint at not just the nature of the death field but also who the two leads really are. The movie really commits to its premise so folks who aren't crazy about stories where 'it was all a dream' or something along those lines need not worry. I was a little disappointed about some of the final revelations and didn't think the film stuck the landing, but the ride was a lot of fun, so I had a pretty darned good time for the better part of 90 minutes.

American Animals - a docudrama about the true story of four guys and their plan to steal some very rare and expensive books. The 'drama' part of it is fairly well done, with Evan Peters (Wandavision) as the lead conspirator. The 'docu' part of it is interviews of the real people involved, intercut with the dramatized scenes. It's good overall, though perhaps a bit unsatisfying in the end.

Megamind. I was not expecting much because it's from Dreamworks, but it's a pretty darn good movie. A supervillain kills the superhero. He realizes that the frequent battles were the best part of his life. He decides to make a new superhero, but does a bad job of it. There is some brilliant animation: for example, the first appearance of Metroman shows him dancing with all the muscles moving correctly. Water, rain, smoke.

I love this movie. It's got neo-noir style for days and is quite creepy in parts. It's also adapted and directed by Scott Frank, so that's always a plus in my book.

Boss Level - Another repeat the day actioner. The movie has it's moments, but giving Grillo that many lines and that much responsibility for the execution of the plot doesn't really align with his strengths as a performer. Gibson and Watts aren't really given much to do. (hulu)

Maybe a guilty pleasure though the blu-ray has no subtitles and hard to hear what Brittany was saying and the film transfer or picture was mediocre.

RIP Britanny Murphy.
