Hard to believe Farley has been gone for 23 years.
I'm not sure but if you ever get a chance, that book, I think it's called "The Chris Farley Show"...it's really fantastic. You might even cry at times. It's just a great book. That guy could've ben like Will Ferrell times eleven...He was so talented...I still remember the day he passed...I was with my junior hockey team and we were all getting ready and some parent came in and said that he had died and it just killed the room...Like, everyone just kind of sulked...That was a bad day...We shot the puck around puck damn arena...that was like our generation's Belushi...it just sucked...

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean - Pretty good movie, although you really have to hang in there for the first half-hour or so. Cher really annoyed the hell out of me. After that first portion of the movie (and yes, I know it was originally a stageplay), it picks up steam. Sandy Dennis is mesmerizing. It's really great. Not one of Altman's bests, but its actually a pretty good movie.

The Confession - Wow. Costa-Gavras has done it again. He's just amazing. And, especially, I was a Political Science major (which does absolutely nothing for you, by the way) and minored in History, but this is the class for you. It's just a startling/sobering movie about Soviet Russia. It's kind of heart-breaking. It's like a history lesson. They should've just shown this film instead of the stupid, stupid classes I had to take to get credits for. Yves Montand is amazing. I just love the movie, even though it makes me incredibly sad every time I watch it. The Blu-Ray is great.

I think Beverly Hills Ninja came out around or before he died. A&E had a 2 hr biography and his brothers talked about him while eating dinner.

Not one of De Palmas best movies and Kirk Douglas was barely in it.

Maybe the only highlight was seeing Amy Irving in a bikini.

Agreed. I bought the stupid Twilight Blu-Ray and have always regretted it. It's an okay movie, I guess. But I feel like anyone e directed it. Only "good" part was when...
Spoiler:
...Cassavetes blew up...that, I enjoyed...

Even that looks fake and overblown no pun intended.

Introducing Ed Harris

I doubt you could make this movie today

Bronson a big surprise he became a big action guy since he does not know martial arts or have a imposing figure.

The Parallax Theory - low-budget movie about a young astrophysicist who predicts a coming apocalypse. Pretty slow, but I liked a couple of turns that the story takes.

*** (****) This is from 1974 and I enjoyed the film although it is not for all tastes. Movie is set in England in the 1920s about a mansion that is haunted but it was actually filmed in India as they were able to find places that looked exactly like England in those days without having to spend any money on recreation. Marianne Faithful was so heavy into drugs that her arm was almost immobile. Vivian Mackerrel made one of his rare screen appearances...he was the actor Bruce Robinson based the character Whitnail on in his film Whitnail & I as they shared a flat together when they were in college.

Haven (2004) — Decent enough interconnected ensemble drama. Doesn't flow as well compared with others within this subgenre (i.e. Traffic) but performances were good, especially liked (of course) Bill Paxton (RIP) and Zoe Saldana. ***/*****

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - been a while since I last watched this, but I'm getting my money's worth out of Disney+. Jar Jar was even more annoying than I remembered. He ruins scenes that aren't even about him--he's just in the background being awful. The only good things about this are the Darth Maul fight with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, and the pod race--though I do have issues with some of the pod race stuff, like those stupid announcers. As bad as the prequels are, though, at least they aren't just a retread of the OT.

At first I was into it and maybe better than what I expected but than lost interest in the final 30 minutes.

The girl who played the young Taraji was smoking

Who would have thought Garry Marshall, Bill Maher, and Dakota Fanning would be in this movie?

I know it is not Citizen Kane but I had fun watching it.

I liked it and one of the better movies I have seen in a while.

Dean Norris was really scary.

Spoiler:
I wish all Nazis would die like the ending of the movie though you don't want them traveling all across the country polluting the environment trying to find each other.

Yeah, that's a great, underrated movie. I owned the movie for years before I finally got around to watching. When I finally watched it, I was kicking myself for not watching it for so long. Atom Egoyan is interesting. Some of his stuff I absolutely love. Others I can't stand. But I'll always check out his stuff. If anything, his stuff is always interesting.

Same here though I returned it at Netflix when I first got it since I wanted a popcorn movie for the weekend.

It is airing on the Showtime networks.

State of Siege - Pretty good Costa-Gavras movie. A very paranoia movie. Yves Montand was terrific.

Tammy and the T-Rex: Uncut - TMC. Uh....not sure what to say about this film, I had heard of this film mostly I think from this site and was aware it is some sort of cult classic/fan favorite film but it is just so...odd.

On the other hand, Denise Richards in her prime was one of the prettiest souls on earth in 1994.

The Kissing Booth (2018)

Since part 2 just came out and a 3rd part is coming out in 2021, I decided to give this one a shot. I admit that this was not on my radar at all. Netflix just cranks out way too much content than I can keep up with.

It was cute. I liked it. It was a charming and likable teen romantic comedy. I'll give the sequel a watch later on.

The Sin of Nora Moran (1933) — Decent enough drama with a good performance from Zita Johann, though that poster is more evocative than the movie itself, but still an okay story. ***½/*****

I thought this would be horrible but it had some laughs after you can get through the crude humor in the first 10 minutes.

Salma Hayek was the highlight of the film.

I thought this was terrible in 1998 but it was not that bad maybe my opinion changed after watching it for the first time in HD.

Puff Daddy butchering Kashmir in the closing credits still sucks
