The Hustle (2019) — Point by point remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and while I don't hold that movie in as high regards compared to others, this spit in its face with offering absolutely nothing new with the comedy falling flat at every turn and worse yet, where Michael Caine and Steve Martin were great together, Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson shared no chemistry.
Since this movie did not deviate at all from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, I found myself mostly bored and just waiting for it to end. I was never angry or anything, just thinking what was the point? 1.75/5

The Sting (1973)
Although this time around I found that a few of the twists they use to hook the pigeon are a stretching it a little, even for 1930, it's still a great con man film. The setting and the music and the casting all top notch.
A small time conman whose partner and teacher gets killed by a big time crook seeks an old pro of the con to take revenge on the mob boss.

Mary Reilly (1996)
Stephen Frears directed what could have been a great take on the Jekyll & Hyde story but the script never takes off. The love story with his servant girl (which is the point I know) takes too much space and not enough is left to develop the Jekyll/Hyde character (John Malkovich)

Twin Warriors(1993)
Early Jet Li film is surprisingly humourous which is something he lost on the way to fame. Here, two friend monks become deadly enemies when one goes power-crazy and rejects all his buddhist upbringing to join the army of the local warlord. The other will join the rebellion. Much fighting ensues...

It was not horrible as I thought it would be and it passed the time and looking at Victoria Justice for close to 90 minutes does not hurt anybody.
Even 2012 Chelsea Handler was a treat to watch.

Quand faut y aller, faut y aller (1983)
Italian actors Terence Hill & Bud Spencer (obviusly not their real names!) made countless - 18 in fact- films together in the 70s/80s with roughly all the same pattern. The wise-crack thin blond smart one and his grumpy big violent against his will friend. Nothing to write home about but amusing in a low-budget italian cheese kind of way.
Here, the pair are mistaken both by the CIA and the badguys for superspies on a mission in Miami. They'll play the part and try and get away with the money...

Limitless (2011) 4.0/5
A newly formulated cognition-enhancing street drug turns a loser writer-wanna-be (Bradley Cooper) into a dynamic financial wizard but also results in him getting into dangerous situations. Many plot holes but a fun watch. Liked the way scenes are vivid when Cooper's character is on the drug and dull when he's not, and the blu-ray's DTS soundtrack gave the score more punch than the Dolby audio on the DVD I'd watched several years ago.

Buried (2010) 4.0/5
Minimalist film with only one actor and only one setting. A civilian contractor in Iraq (Ryan Reynolds) wakes to find himself buried in a wooden box with only a cell phone and a Zippo, and learns that he his being held for ransom by insurgents. Loved the ending.

Maybe having Hanks and Nia Vardalos as co-writers ruined it.
It was a ok movie but definitely not LOL material
Rami Malek played one of the students before he blew up with I Robot.

Ready or Not...this was a lot of fun. a lot. it's lean at less than 1:30 running time so they get right to it. and the mayhem, carnage never lets up. Weaving is always great and this was no different. The other characters were ok. zany and all that. McDowell and Czerny were fine. Brody decent. But, of course Weaving's show.
i don't think i would classify this as horror. more dark dark comedy that is very gory. as much as i really liked it, i just couldn't help feel like this just could have easily been a made-for-streaming movie, like Weaving's The Babysitter on Netflix, which also was a hell of a lot of fun. it had the same production values and all.
if i didn't have a free ticket and some free time, i really wouldn't have seen this in theater. don't even see many horror in theaters (even though it is fav genre) except ones i really want to and fit my criteria. this i could have easily seen at home and loved it just as much maybe more.
either way, i am glad it got theatrical release if nothing else then to show off Weaving's talent. she really should be in more mainstream. maybe the Robbie factor has something to do with that. regardless, she is good and would like to see her more.
overall, very fun, funny and over-the top-gory action/horror hybrid (i guess) movie.
between and
probably more viewings will push it further up...

Lock Up (1989) — Heard of this 80s Stallone film but never saw it. Really well made thriller with Stallone in the perfect role and Donald Sutherland as the sadistic warden was scary as hell. 3.75/5

The Edukators (2004) 3.5/5
Three young Berlin anti-capitalist activists break into wealthy people's homes while they are away, rearrange their belongings, and leave a note stating "Your days of plenty are numbered" in order to shake the homeowners' beliefs that they are completely safe in their high security homes. Things go awry when a businessman returns while the edukators are in his opulent home. Some humor, some nice settings, and some food for thought on youthful idealism and what tends to happen to that idealism over time.

Line Walker 2 : Invisible Spy (2019)
Despite its title, this Shaw Brothers production bears little connection to the first Line Walker movie, other than having the same main cast as the original. Instead, the plot borrows shamelessly from Infernal Affairs and the Mission: Impossible movies.
Two brilliant-minded orphans (they both can solve a Rubik's Cube in seconds) become close childhood friends, but are attacked one day by members of a terrorist outfit that kidnaps children and trains them to be future moles. One of the orphans manages to escape his would-be captors, but when he hears his friend cry for help, he returns to try and save him, only to get injured and taken away. His friend, however, manages to inadvertently escape by tripping and falling down a hillside.
Many years later, the two orphans have grown up and become members of law enforcement. But now, with different names and appearances, how does anyone (other than the two orphans themselves) know which one is the good guy and which one is the bad? Matters get more complicated when the two of them are both assigned to retrieve a hard drive containing data that was hacked from the terrorists' computer network.
The twisty plot is as ludicrous as the one in Hobbs and Shaw, but this is an energetic, high octane Hong Kong action movie that is much more satisfying than recent efforts like the lame Chasing the Dragon 2. Both Louis Koo (who seems to be on a mission to appear in every HK movie this year -- does he ever sleep?) and Nick Cheung are in fine form as two men on opposite sides of the law who still share a close bond. They are ably assisted by the great Francis Ng, who portrays a sympathetic superior officer who has mentored both their characters.
Early action scenes have too much shaky cam and quick edits, but the 2nd half of the movie delivers some great choreographed action and gunplay. And then there is a final car chase sequence in Spain that is off-the-charts crazy. And that is no Bull-shit.

Climax - While it doesn't live up to the other films Gaspar Noe has done (Enter the Void is probably my favorite, with Irreversible a close second, followed by I Stand Alone), but it's definitely better than Love. The music is great, the editing is great, and the acting is actually pretty good. I was surprised he was able to make this on the minuscule budget he had to work with. Just kind of delirium throughout the movie. I really, really enjoyed it. He structured it in such a unique way, but the typical Noe sometimes crazy/violence is definitely there (at least, in a few scenes). Would recommend to people who are fans of Noe...
Bob le flambeur - I love Jean-Pierre Melville films. Especially Le samourai, Le cercle rouge, Le deuxième souffle, and Un flic (still haven't seen Le doulos). This one is right up there. Feels like the movie was way ahead of its time. Great film noir type dialogue, and the lead actor is terrific. The ending was a little unexpected, but it fit the tone of the movie. I totally get why certain filmmakers think so highly of this movie...Too bad Melville passed away so young...He probably had several other great movies in him...Oh, and like the reviewer on this site said, the picture is pretty much impeccable...I can't remember the last time I saw a transfer of a movie this old that looked so great...Kino Lorber really did a great job on this one...

Ha. Was looking at old posts and noticed this one. I recently posted my thoughts on this movie and felt the EXACT same way. I also want those two and a half hours back. What surprises me is that I have buddies that actually claim to have enjoyed it...But, man, did I ever HATE that movie (aside from the Thom Yorke score...even though I still would've preferred if they used the original music)...A friend came over recently and I told him to pick a movie and he picked this one and I was just like, "No, man, I just can't do it again...I can't sit through that..."...I let him borrow the Blu-Ray, so he can waste his time on his own time...

I don't know what was worse the special effects or the porn quality acting.
Adrian Brody was in one scene.
