It was boring and not scary at all

What did Jason Clarke and John Lithgrow see in the script that compelled them to do this movie?

Sandler must be happy this was on Netflix since it would have bombed in the theaters.

Nothing really memorable and can't remember one LOL moment.

The chase scene with the Ferrari Testarossa was the only thing that was worth watching.

Suspiria (2018) - It's really too bad because I went in watching this with the best intentions. I thought it would be different but maybe great. Oh my god, was I wrong. This movie sucks on every single level. Let's get rid of the awesome Argento color scheme? Check. Let's get rid of the violence? Check. A piss-poor movie, and its not like I hate remakes. But this one? I've hated the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th remakes (and I mean, HATED them), but I'll take those movies before this one any day. This one is SOOOOOO BADDDDD, the only takeaway for me? Thom Yorke did a good score. But holy shit, the movie SUCKED. Just horrible. I'm surprised no one, (AT SOME POINT), said, "hey, this movie doesn't look too good. Maybe we should just stop filming." It's that bad.

A Japanese 9th grade class with little respect for authority embark on what they believe is a year-end field trip but find themselves on an uninhabited island where they have 72 hours to kill each other until a sole survivor is declared the winner.

70-year-old Kinji Fukasaku apparently agreed to direct the film because the source novel reminded him of his youthful attitudes. Many of Fukasku's 15-year-old classmates were killed in the bombing of the munitions factory where they worked. Survivors realized the Japanese government had been lying about the progress of WWII, which led to Fukasaku having a burning hatred for adults in general that persisted for many years.

Battle Royale II (2003) 2.5/5

Survivors of previous Battle Royales have banded together to form a terrorist organization. A class of losers and misfits is tasked with destroying them on their island stronghold.

Directed by Fukasaku's son, the film has lots of action and FX explosions but little of the character development that made the first film more interesting for me.

Haven't gotten around to watching the second one, but dammit that first one was AMAZING. I love that movie. Just brilliant.

WHY even call this a REMAKE? This has nothing to do with the AWESOME original. Just make your own DAMN movie. This is a joke. What the eff were the people behind this thinking? Just go make a ballerina movie. Fuck off. Jesus. This movie is horrible.

Furie (Hai Phượng) (2019)

Although the film's plot lacks originality (taking cues from Taken), I still enjoyed it a whole lot.

Veronica Ngo's performance was great as were the Action Scenes & Shooting Locations.

I haven't been this pleased with a Vietnamese Action Film since The Rebel (Dng Mu Anh Hng) (2017)

There's really no comparison. The second one is much more bombastic, much more melodramatic, and bizarrely anti-American.

Speaking of melodramatic...

...it was every bit as ridiculous and unscientific as you would expect a big budget nuclear meltdown film to be, and the amount of time the characters found to monologue when time was of the essence was hilarious.

Wall Street - A classic. I know there's a lot of Oliver Stone haters out there, but when he was on top of his game, he was good. I think this is a great movie. Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, and Michael Douglas were terrific. When it comes to Oliver Stone movies, I'd rank this one right up there with Platoon and JFK...He really knows how to dramatically tell a story...

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - Great, great John Hillcoat movie. And dammit, did Nick Cave and Warren Ellis make a helluva score. So many great actors in this one...I love the movie...

I do love Missing In Action, though I was referring to films made by Vietnamese Filmmakers and (actually) filmed in Vietnam.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019)

Enjoyed this film a whole lot. DiCaprio & Pitt were fantastic!

I thought Born on the 4th of July and Nixon were great movies too.

W is good too though probably liberals don't want to see a Bush movie and conservatives will think it is a hit job.

It is not Citizen Kane but surprisingly entertaining for a Nic Cage movie since he has not done anything great in this decade.

He was in more of a supporting role and Don Johnson played a prick lawyer. A drama more than a action movie.

I watched this on Netflix.

I think I like the first one better but there's a few good scenes especially the one involving
Spoiler:
the Disney Princesses.

Then get ready to be massively disappointed. I pretend that the second film doesn't exist.

Brian Banks (2019)

Bio film about a young High School football star who was wrongly accused of rape and spent 5 years in prison and another 6 years on parole. His life is basically ruined and he tries with the help of a lawyer to clear his name.

I enjoyed it even though it's quite formulaic and feels very TV movie like. But, It's a compelling story.

Apparently some of the knuckleheads in this forum thought this was a bio pic on a porn star.

la Fille de Brest (aka 150 Milligrams, 2016) 3.5/5

Based on the true story of Irne Frochon, a pulmonologist in small Brittany port city, who discovers a drug designed for diabetics is causing irreversible heart valve damage in patients who use the drug solely for weight loss. Frochon naively believes that presenting her findings to the French equivalent of the FDA will result in the drug being withdrawn but encounters resistance and condescension from the regulatory agency, the pharmaceutical company, and its paid academic experts.

Frochon is portrayed in the film as a well-rounded person with flaws, which I liked.

Edge of Tomorrow (2014) 4.0/5

Railroaded into combat duty against an alien species that has already conquered mainland Europe, an army PR talking head (Tom Cruise) is quickly killed in action and awakens back at Heathrow reliving the events of the day. Fun watch.

Liked both that one and Stone's sequel 23 years later. Need to revisit both someday.

I took the kiddos to see Dora The Explorer. It was amusing but something that only a parent should pay to see.

The Machinist. Christian Bale is disturbing as an emaciated guy who's losing his mind. He says that he hasn't slept for a year, and it's believable. The big reveal at the end isn't much of a surprise to anyone but the protagonist.
