Blade Runner (1982, International Cut): Doubt I'll ever tire of re-watching BR. Love Hauer's 'Teardrops in the Rain' soliloquy near the end. Hopefully when my check-out time arrives I'll have a few lucid moments to reflect on the many wonderful things I've seen and experienced in my lifetime.
btw for any BR fans who don't already own it, the 5-disc Collectors Edition has all four "official" versions (1982 US & International theatrical cuts, 1992 Director's Cut, and 2007 Final Cut) plus the 1990 workprint which saw limited release as an "unofficial director's cut".
Blade Runner 2049 (2017): Was underwhelmed when I saw this opening night and perceived others were too.
On one screen the cineplex ran a double feature with BR (Final Cut) followed by BR 2049 3D. During the intermission there was a lot of enthusiastic chatter and one could sense the mounting anticipation for the second film. When BR 2049 ended almost all filed out at the start of the credits and the few conversations seemed muted.
Liked the film better on re-watch and suspect this one will grow on me in subsequent viewings. Perhaps I misinterpreted the reactions of others at the cineplex.

Not a lot of boxing scenes. I think I liked it more after the first viewing a couple of years ago.
This could have been a Hallmark movie if they take out the profanity and one sex scene.

Relatos Salvajes (Wild Tales) (2014)
Excellent argentinian dark comedy that was nominated for best foreign film. Made up of short sketches pertaining to death and betrayal and revenge. Although inequal they are all worth it. Reminded me of an excellent italian film from the 70s called "Les nouveaux monstres" (new monsters?). same format of sketches with a dark hunour criticising society's worst habits.

Le Bossu (1997)
Fine adaptation of Paul Féval's 1857 book. Story of sword-for-hire Laguardère who befriends a duke and swears he will protect his daughter and avenge his death no matter how long it takes. 20 years later...
Nothing too original but fun 'cape et épée' (Cape & Sword) film in the best french tradition.

The Zero Boys (1986)
Cult 80s horror/thriller that I had seen back then and forgotten about until I saw one scene with the girl in the barn with a plastic bag over her head, suffocating. I can see the appeal but it's mostly stupid gun-totting macho trash (the 'heroes' spend about 3 minutes - and 1000 cartridges - thrashing the barn with their uzis instead of running after the bad guy who just kidnapped the girl!) and bad acting. But it's 80s vintage fun!!!

Little Deaths (2011)
Uninteresting three-sketch british film with horror/sex as main theme. Neither scary nor sexy.

Saturday Morning Massacre (2012)
Stupid. There should be a bad-script police refraining amateurs from filming anything they can think of and putting it out on DVD. Or maybe I should stop watching those useless cheaply made horror amateur films!

Agree. Wonder if that obsession might be due to Hollywood's drive for profitability. Youth, attractiveness, and image may be more important to their target audiences than talent and substance. Unfortunately that also seems to carry into other areas of life, such as the LPC's selection of votre voisin et bon ami JT as leader instead of someone with talent and substance 😉

Marisa Tomei the only star in the movie and wonder why she did it?
Van Jones makes a cameo [/QUOTE]
I saw this last week or so. And I thought that in good hands it would make a much better political/anticipation film (distopia) than a horror film.

Rod Serling would have crushed it if you gave him the Purge concept.
I loved this movie. If you are expecting non-stop action you will be disappointed.
It also had a few laughs and if you are a millenial you might be offended
As a bonus Bradley Cooper is in it too.

Frankenstein 1970 (1958) — Has some atmosphere and Boris Karloff was chewing the scenery to make it a bit of fun, but as a Frankenstein story, pretty average and not at all frightening. 2.5/5
Sgt. Bilko (1996) — Seen this a few times over the years, certainly not a top shelf Steve Martin comedy but still delivered some laughs thanks to the cast that also included Dan Aykroyd and Phil Hartman. 3.0/5

I broke my cherry and watched a movie from streaming from start to finish though spread out over two days.
It was alright though it started out slow.

It started slow and I thought I was going to hate this but this was not that bad. I liked the interactions with Carell and Leslie Mann more than the scenes with the dolls.
I wonder why he is not in high heels for the Blu-ray artwork. If you have sen the movie you will know what I am talking about.

Passion of the Christ
The first time I've watched the film since seeing it in the theater 15 years ago. I didn't care for the picture quality, -it seemed too reddish and soft on my display. There's a very nice supplemental DVD, hurt only by the fact it's a DVD and not a Blu-ray.
Argo
I picked up the "Argo Gift Set" when it was highly discounted on Amazon a few weeks back. Great film with some terrific extras. It was certainly ballsy to include a documentary on the actual event that (indirectly) makes it clear where the story was "dramatized".

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Way too long which is not unusual for a Disney movie since all of them run for 2 hrs +
None of the songs except the finale were memorable and I was bored.
Maybe if you saw the original or a huge fan you might like this.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
I'll agree it's too long. They could have easily dropped the Meryl Streep cameo, which felt out of place for me. Blunt was good but lacked that something that Julie Andrews had. The Dick Van Dyke scene at the end really saved the movie for me.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
I recently watched the 4K version, which has a terrific palette, but it also points out some weaker renderings that I hadn't noticed before. I remember seeing this in a theater the first week at an 11pm show (quite a different crowd then). Nobody was prepared for a traditional Musical. After the "Under The Sea" number there was a definite feeling of "Wow!" from the crowd, and had it not been a Movie, I think there would have been applause.

My Scientology Movie (2015) — Pretty funny documentary that doesn't a whole lot that hasn't been done before in terms of exposing Scientology, "Going Clear: Scientology & the Prison of Belief" was a far better film, but there was some great humor intertwined and I did like Louis Theroux and the actor who played David Miscavige was actually not at all bad. Might be worth a rental, but not much more. 3.5/5
