Stoker (2013): Absolutely loved this film. It's definitely one of my favorite films of the year so far.

Spring Breakers (2012): Despite it's flaws, I was surprised that I enjoyed this film. An interesting visual style/narrative plus solid performances by Selena Gomez & James Franco, saved this one for me.

Re: Last movie you watched

Spoiler:

I can't begin to express how excruciating my first viewing of this was about 5 years ago. Within 10 minutes I began to loathe the main character which made the film close to unbearable to watch. I was hating every minute of it, but determined to stick it out because it's been so highly regarded all these years and there had to be some value people were seeing in it that I couldn't.
Something finally changed and by the very end of the film, I was actually kind of touched.

This second viewing, on Bd was a monumentally different experience. Loved the film from start to finish- found the main character enchanting rather than grating and the Bd itself was absolute eye candy in the best sense.

I think the difference in reactions might be due to my being a viewer who keys more on plot than characters. This film is nearly all character and that made for a very frustrating watch the first time around.

Anyways, this made for one of the best movie nights I've had in a long time and it's times like this where all the money I've sunk into an HT feels amply justified.

Following - 4.5/5

Debut film from Christopher Nolan about an aspiring writer who's developed an interest in following random strangers. Excellent mystery/noir that leaves you guessing right up to the end. This along with Memento are in my opinion Nolan's best films.

Quigley Down Under. I always thought it was probably some early 90's schlock that barely qualified as a theatrical feature. I dunno where I got that impression but lo and behold it's actually a good movie. It's a shame Tom Selleck's movie career never really took off but he's really good here (along with Alan Rickman who almost equals his Die Hard performance).

Watched Journey 2: The Mysterious Island starring Dwayne Johnson.

DVR'd it off HBO and started watching it tonight. I initially had zero interest in a family adventure movie with Johnson, but I'm pleasantly surprised with it.

Vanessa Hudgens is also in it and looks really cute.

The Terminator on Cinemax

Just happened to change the channel and saw it was on.

The HD transfer looks really dull and grainy, especially the future sequences. It looks like slightly better up converted SD video. I realize this movie was shot 30 years ago and there is only so much they can do.

...And what did you think of it?

We saw World War Z on our anniversary and it was good though I can't remember seeing a single bite in the entire zombie film which seems odd to me.

Re: Last movie you watched

Bulworth - 4/5

Political satire about a senator up for re-election on the verge of a nervous breakdown who decides not to hold back and speak the truth.
A daring film that at times can be a bit heavy-handed and hokey.
