Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) - Great little horror-comedy parody with some great moments and really compelling leads of (to me) unknown actors. There are aspects that were right up there with Scream. 4.0/5

I watched Black Panther today. I liked it, but I thought it was overhyped. The action sequences were just fine. None of the action scenes really stood out. I thought Ryan Coogler's Creed was much better. 3.75/5

I saw Death Wish (2018) a few days ago.
It's watchable and has some entertaining moments. Not nearly as God awful as some think it is or how it was made out to be. But, Bruce Willis just sleep walked through the hole thing. It's obvious he just doesn't care anymore and is collecting paychecks.
I'd give it a C+. If you're a fan and can catch a cheap matinee, then knock yourself out. Otherwise, wait until it hits a premium cable channel later in 2018.

I watched Justice League - The New Frontier today. It's not my favorite of the DC Animated Original Movies, but I enjoyed it. I wish they could make their live action movies as good as their animated ones... 3.5/5

Gringo - Charlize Theron absolutely chewed up the scenery when she was on screen. Edgerton was very good as a clichéd corporate greedy villain. His scenes came in a close second. Everything else was pretty fair at best. 2.5/5

In keeping with my recent trend of lackluster movies, I rented this last night. Shit. But my wife is completely over super-hero movies, hates r rated action, so I basically end up trying to rent comedies when we'll both be watching. Not often I don't find a movie worth the price of a rental. This was one. 1/5

I liked this movie a lot, but I liked all the Thor movies.
Wife has been very sour on comic book movies but I thought this one with the broad humor would be better. She gave it 30 minutes then went up to bed. She's just tired of them. I miss Portman in a Thor movie but there probably wasn't much room for her.

Thor: Ragnarok (3D)...just pure
f-in fun. I said it in movie review thread, but this was just entertaining. Fun, funny, action. Great character play. Hemsworth has really grown into character. A little stiff in 1st, better in 2nd, hits stride in 3rd. Colorful, badass baddie, just had everything a “superhero” movie should have. I still have first Iron Man as all time fav, then Civil War, then this. I thought Korg was voiced by Sharlito Copley, but alas it was director himself. If more sequels are in this vein, then I’m all in. Great time, again, with this one. Also, 3D is great. Best of all Marvel imo. Depth throughout and some great pop out effects. Best since Avatar, I would say.

Last movie I watched was The Square. I actually included it in a list of "great, weird movies" before seeing it based on a couple reviews, well, it's a lot more straight forward than anticipated. It's a mix of subtle "What can break a man" and over the top "Modern Art is goofy as hell.", the man ape dinner scene was really well pulled off, and reading about how they made it seem so authentic was interesting -- hope they have some behind the scenes footage of it. Overall, I didn't love it, but it's a good movie.
