mother! - 4.5/5
The lives of a poet and his younger wife are disrupted when a stranger shows up at their door looking for shelter. The following day, the stranger's wife shows up and slowly all hell starts to break loose. There is a method to the madness and I think I need to watch this one again very soon.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi...saw last night.
in a word...breathtaking. i managed to avoid all spoilers. just great. i was literally gasping for breath many times and the number of times i had goosebumps was numerous.
that opening scene, i think, was the best out of all 8 films thus far. way to start off on exhilarating note.
but, not without some flaws. i mean as someone said the Finn storyline finding the code breaker was useless. just filler, it seemed. the humor, while great for today's audience, doesn't fall in line with original trilogy, but i understand it's point for today's audience and they were very funny. also, the one Matrix-like shot with Luke while fighting Ren was just not good. it was so out of place and looked so phony.
But, overall so entertaining and so well done. can't wait to revisit.

Bad Genius (2017)
The Breakfast Club meets Ocean's Eleven in this slick and entertaining Thai thriller. Highly recommended.

Michael Shannon chews the scenery.
I like Dakota Fanning but it seems she was miscast in this movie.

I watched an 11:30 matinee of Star Wars: The Last Jedi today. I liked it, but I have problems with it. Finn's storyline was useless and made the movie too long. I was also a bit confused about a few things that happened. 3.5/5

I watched Stronger today. I was really touched by it. I'm not a big fan of Jake Gyllenhaal, but he was fantastic in this. Tatiana Maslany also gives a good performance in this movie too. It's great to see David Gordon Green making good movies again. 4.25/5

I also watched Dunkirk today. I feel the movie was very technically proficient, but it was missing a bit of heart. It was incredibly well shot and directed, but I wish I could have gotten to know the characters a little bit more. I really liked Tom Hardy as the fighter pilot and Mark Rylance was good in this too. 4/5

Been working my way through a rewatch of all the MI movies. This one's a solid action/thriller. I really like the whole Dubai sequence.

Pulp (1972) — Solid and funny (for dry British humor) that works because of Michael Caine and the beautiful Nadia Cassini. 3.75/5

‘71 - 4/5
In 1971 a young British soldier sent to Northern Ireland is left behind by his squad when they are forced to retreat after a riot ensues. A good thriller about someone trying to make a difference in the world, only to have their innocence shattered.
