It was ok and not terrible though I prefer dramatic De Niro over the comedies he does.

When he does comedy he always goes blue.

Not technically a Christmas movie but takes place at Christmas and New Years so we watch it every year.

Wonder Woman (3D)...really just as thrilling the second time. the 3D presentation is pretty good too. didn't see it like that in movies, but the depth and battle scenes, especially on Themyscira, were really done well. i know this was post, but it was pretty good post and bolstered the movie that much more.

Downfall - 2/5

The last days of Adolph Hitler and his cronies cooped up in a bunker as the Red Army closes in. Bruno Ganz is good as the Fuehrer, but besides his performance, this film has nothing else going for it.

It's A Wonderful Life Local legend says Bedford Falls was fashioned after our nearby Seneca Falls, even the bridge. No matter how many times I see this movie I forget how long it takes to actually get to the part with Clarence.

Hard Romanticker - 3.5/5

A young Korean hood with a hot temper living in Japan gets himself neck deep in trouble when an associate of his kills the grandmother of a notorious mob boss. With its ultra cool atmosphere, dark humor and outbursts of graphic violence, it reminded me of the 60's & 70's Japanese gangster films by Seijun Suzuki & Kinji Fukasaku. I liked this film and the lead actor was great, but I just wished that his character was a bit more likeable, instead he's just as much of a bastard as his enemies.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

I love that The Long Kiss Goodnight and The Last Boy Scout are showing up as we get closer to Christmas...fun Christmas action films.

I recorded this film at least as far back as last February (it says February, but it could also be February 2016...sometimes films sit forever on my Tivos) and finally finished up Tomorrowland which was a fantastic film. The thing is, I totally understand why people were confused by the marketing for this movie and having seen it understand why plenty of folks might come away from watching the film going wow that was great but totally understanding why it was not a massive hit. Raffey Cassidy was great and some of the robot vs human violence was intense and well staged, but yeah...an odd film to market.

It may take a while before it becomes a classic Brad Bird film in the eyes of many movie goers but I do believe that if folks give it a chance they will be pleasantly surprised. Poor Disney...now having seen it I just can't help but think there was no way this film was going to be a hit in theaters. I know they took some financial hits when this film under performed, 33m opening for a 200m budget movie...ouch, we have seen worse opening weekends for mega budget films since...still, but yeah, a wonderful movie that I highly recommend.

Leatherface (2017) — Really dull at times but the gore effects were at least decent. This is just another lackluster entry into the series (though at this point no clue which is connected to which). 2.0/5

I watched Lady Bird today and I loved it. One of the best movies that I have seen so far this year. Saoirse Ronan and Lauire Metcalf are excellent in this. They should get Academy Award Nominations. I can't wait to see the next movie that Greta Gerwig directs. 4.75/5

Angel (2007) - 1/5

A young English girl escapes poverty when a publisher takes a chance on her writing and makes her a famous author. Eventually she comes to realize that life is much harsher than her escapist romantic novels make it out to be. Don't know what the hell Francois Ozon was trying to do with this one. A stinker.

I watched Big Hero 6 today. I really enjoyed it. It's a lot of fun, but also has well done emotional center. 4/5

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

I saw 2 movies in the last 2 days.

Downsizing (2017)

and

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

I had a good time watching Star Wars despite some very minor issues.

I was disappointed with Downsizing.

I'd give Star Wars: The Last Jedi a B+

I'd give Downsizing a C+

Daylight (1996) — Great mid-1990s disaster movie that keeps the thrills until the very end. This was probably my third viewing in the 20 years since its release (wow, do I feel old because I think saw this in theaters!) and it still holds up well. 4.0/5
