Return of the Jedi. So I was still coming off my high from going to a comic convention last weekend. I fell asleep maybe 1/3 of the way in. Ugh. It really is pretty bad.

Babes in Toyland (1961)

Disney's first live-action musical, and it's a snoozer. Even Ed Wynn's insanely over the top performance came too late to help it. I love the set design, though.

Gangster Squad. No idea why but I didn't really think this was supposed to be an action movie just sort of a drama. I was mistaken. Loved it.

Villa Des Roses - 2.5/5

Should have been a better film but could not decide if it wanted to be a dark comedy or a tragic romance.

American Mary (2012)

Katharine Isabelle is fantastic in this. The problem is the first half of the film is so front-loaded, that the second half is a bit of a bore/mess.

Still, it isn't too shabby for the Soska Sisters' second full length film.

Re: Last movie you watched

Iron Man III: Solid beginning to the summer movie season. A solid A-. Lots of action and humor.

Gangster Squad: Surprised I missed this in theatres. Very entertaining film period action movie. Brolin was great as the lead.

Mama: Strange, yet very interesting fantasy horror film. The young girls were solid.

Silver Linings Playbook: Didn't love it, but I enjoyed this movie. Kind of quirky, but I enjoyed all the characters and thought Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence worked as an onscreen couple.

Safe Haven: Cheesy, yet enjoyable romance drama from good old Nick Sparks. I enjoyed that it mixed both a thriller and a romance movie. Julianne Hough isn't a great actress yet, but she really is pretty and had good chemistry with Josh Duhamel.

Iron Man 3 - Kind of loved it. Was not what I was expecting, in a good way. Pleasantly surprised.

Maniac (2012)

Pleasantly surprised! The film mostly being shot from the POV of Frank was a great addition.

The ABCs of Death (2012)

A bit ambitious for a Horror Anthology, but I (mostly) enjoyed it. Some really twisted ideas from some directors. The shorts by Xavier Gens & Timo Tjahjanto are ones that particularly stuck with me.

My only qualms with it were a couple of similar approaches break up the film accidentally and a couple of duds.

The Expendables 2 (2012)

Enjoyed this film so much more than the first film. It was still a bit uneven at times, but I think it was smart move to let someone else direct this time.

Silent Hill: Revelation

I appreciated the Silent Hill 3 (video game) influence and the visuals, but that's about it.

2/5

Should have been called The Branch Rickey Story instead. Harrison Ford's character is on screen at least a third more than Robinson is.

Re: Last movie you watched

The Uninvited, an old ghost movie from 1945. A bit dated in spots, and pretty hard to find, but generally pretty good and worthy of its reputation. Good performances from the cast, gorgeous cinematography from the great Charles Lang Jr. in rich black and white, and has a nice sense of the melancholia and loss that all great ghost stories do.
