I watched Teen Titans: The Judas Contract today and I enjoyed it. This is the second of the DC animated movies that I have watched (Justice League Dark was the other one). I have been impressed with them. I really enjoy that they're more adult-themed than I thought they would be. 3.5/5

I also watched The Hero today. I'm on vacation and catching up on movies so I'll be posting frequently for the next week. Overall, I liked it. Sam Elliott gives a tremendous performance in it. The movie is very melancholy and deals with accepting that your life is ending. The movie is directed by Brett Haley and I don't think it's as good as I'll See You in my Dreams, but I'd be up for watching this again. 3.25/5

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales (2017) — Eh, was mostly bored but managed to chuckle a couple of times but that's about the extent of it. Just stop this tired franchise. 2.25/5

Wind River - 4/5

An FBI agent with the help of a tracker tries to find those responsible for the death of a Native American girl found frozen in the middle of the woods.
Good film with what probably is Jeremy Renner's best performance since The Hurt Locker.

I saw this about a week ago and have a similar opinion.

Such a tired series. I really hope this was the final chapter. Only reason this movie was somewhat of a success was the overseas grosses. It bombed here.

Somewhat, but still was the second lowest grossing overseas since the first movie and one would think adjusted for ticket inflation (which we can't do for those numbers), it might even be last.

I suspect it will be the last one because this one took a while to get made (was 6 years since On Stranger Tides). But you never know and Depp seems to be more than willing to collect that fat paycheck.

It Comes at Night...this was a tense, creepy fucking movie. Great sense of paranoia. Well played. Love everything Edgerton is in.

One more watched today. Wonder Woman. Overall, I enjoyed it. Gal Gadot gives a powerhouse performance as Wonder Woman. I do feel that the movie is too long and they could have edited out a few parts. 3.75/5

Home for the Holidays (1995) — Probably my fourth or fifth time seeing it and still a great movie. Holly Hunter and Robert Downey Jr. are great. 4.0/5

The Graduate (Criterion)...this is about as close to “masterpiece” as you can get. So great.

My Blue Heaven (1990) — Safe, inoffensive, comedy has a few laughs but a rather forgettable 1990s Steve Martin film. 3.0/5

I watched Home Again at the theater today. I liked it, but I think the script needed a lot of work. The general premise is good, but it seems like this is just a first or second draft. The dialogue needed work and there are a few comedy cliches in it. Also, I thought that Reese's love interest just looked too young. Reese is 41 and Pico Alexander is 25, but looked 17. Reese Witherspoon is good in this as usual. She has an effervescent screen presence 3/5

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Waltz with Bashir. An autobiographical animated film by an Israeli. He doesn't remember how he was involved with a massacre, and he interviews people who were there with him to learn what he saw. It gets into the treachery of memory, the horrors of war, and vile national politics. Brilliant.

Suspiria (1977)

4K Restoration! So worth the 170 mile drive (round-trip).

She is so hot in that poster.

Spoiler:
I did not know it was about the Manson murders until the closing credits.

Children of the Corn (1984) — Far more funny than scary, but did have a nice creepy feel, of course kids in movies are already creepy, so might not have anything to do with the story. 3.25/5
