Mean Dreams...an ode to Bill Paxton if ever I saw one. He was great as the bad guy and makes me sad we will never get another, evil, wacky, good or any other performance by him. If this was his last, it was a great one to go out on.

Aftermath...it was pretty good. Definitely something we haven't seen from Arnold in probably his career. some shades of Maggie, but more subdued and tense. didn't have many lines either. would think less than 50? solid performances by him and McNairy. not a bad rental.

Cold In July - 4/5
A man's life takes a drastic turn after he shoots an unarmed intruder in his home and is found not guilty due to self-defense. Not pleased with the outcome, the intruders father begins stalking the man and his family. A good southern noir/revenge thriller with some good acting from Sam Shepard and Don Johnson.

Iron Eagle...this is a nostalgic movie for me. 86, I believe. Loved the hell out if it. Seeing it today, the soundtrack, the 80's cheese, a bad guy named "Knotcher". Just classic. I love this movie and Jason Gedrick ever since. Backdraft, Class of '96, The Heavenly Kid, always been around, mostly tv, but always around. Lou Gossett, fucking Queen music. Great movie!

The Brown Bunny - 4/5
After a competition in New Hampshire, a motorcycle racer drives across the country to California. On his way there he meets several women that remind him of a long lost love with who he planned on spending the rest of his life with. This undeservedly maligned film that was clouded by controversy deserves better. It is a very touching look at the hurt that can be caused by those you love and the difficulty of letting them go. Being that I liked this and Buffalo '66, I'll have to check out Promises Written in Water next.

Split - 2.5/5
What could have been a good psychological thriller in the vein of Psycho, Peeping Tom and Silence of the Lambs is IMO ruined by shifting gears into comic book land.

- It Came From Beneath The Sea
- The Giant Behemoth: It was not great.
- The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues: Again, not great.
- Aliens
- The Magnetic Monster: Surprisingly, this was actually good and a bit chilling.
- AVP: Alien vs. Predator: A favorite of mine, call it a guilty pleasure.
- Bayou (1957): Actually enjoyed this one. I felt that there was some actual chemistry between Peter Graves and Lita Milan.
