Fight for Your Life - 1/5
Low budget 1970's exploitation revenge film about three escaped convicts led by a white supremacist who hold a black family hostage, tormenting them with racial epithets and violence. While things can get a little nasty at times, it tries so hard that it almost borders on parody. |

The Nightcomers - 2.5/5
After the death of their parents, two children who live in a British country estate become corrupted by their gardener and nanny who are involved in a sadomasochistic relationship. An unnecessary and bland film that is supposed to be a prequel to The Innocents. Only worth watching for Marlon Brando. |

Even though I liked the second one, the first one was superior. Although Colby Smulders was athletic and still feminine, she can't hold a candle to Rosamund Pike for big screen gravitas. Funny how in the extras they discussed the books where Jack Reacher is 6'5" tall and talked about there not being any actors that size. Apparently The Rock, Armie Hammer, Liam Nieson, Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry, Dolph Lundgren, etc., don't count. Obviously Tom Cruise will bring butts to the seats that the others won't but they shouldn't act like there aren't tall actors in Hollywood. |

Fences...wow, just wow. i did not expect to love this that much. these were powerful performances on a whole nother level. i take back what i said pre-Oscars, Denzel should have taken Best Actor home. he was amazing, as was Affleck, but this was just better. the movie was amazing. deep and moving.

Saving Mr. Banks had seen this before but I inherited the DVD from my mother so I decided to watch it again for her. When seeing the part about the father dying, it was pretty poignant given the similarities. This movie is tough for the first half because that chick really didn't want to see the movie made so she was being a real bitch.

The Eyes of My Mother - 4/5
Slow burn indie art house horror film about a young woman who as a child witnessed the brutal murder of her mother. As time goes by, she develops a twisted relationship with her mother's killer, who was captured by her father and kept imprisoned inside a barn house. A well made twisted film about the effects of violence and isolation on the psyche that reminded me of of David Lynch, Michael Haneke and Ingmar Bergman. The black and white cinematography is gorgeous. |

The Sentinel - 3/5
Creepy 70's mash up of more superior horror films about a young model who moves into a brownstone in Broolyn, NY. While there strange things start to happen and it turns out that the building is some sort of passage to hell. Not the most original or competently made film but it has its moments. It does have one hell of a cast, which except for Chris Sarandon is mostly wasted. |

Images - 4/5
Robert Altman's psychological thriller about an author of children's books who starts to lose her grip on reality when she has visions about her former dead lover and a mysterious doppelganger. An interesting puzzle of a film that reminded me of Roman Polanski and Alain Resnais, with an excellent performance from Susannah York. |

The Hollars - HBO. Quick comedy that just...ends. It was okay.
Clockstoppers - HBO. Wonderful film that has a great cast. It is safe for families and looks great in HD (I remember renting this on DVD from Netflix). |
