Vengeance - 4/5

While the story is a bit weak Johnnie To knows how to make it work.

'The Bothersome Man' - this is my third time through, I like it more with re-views. If you like intelligent films go out of your way to see this.

'Joe The King' - I've seen it once before years back. Solid film by Frank Whaley. It received some tepid reviews and some good reviews. I like it.

EDIT: I really like the To stuff including 'Vengeance'.

Cosmopolis
I thought it was incredibly dull, and barely made it through.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011) - 2/5

Unnecessary remake & IMO not as good as the Swedish language film.

Stoker

Unmistakably a Chan-wook Park movie. Stilted dialog, but enjoyable and very atmospheric if cliche flick.

Killing Them Softly - 3.5/5: I really liked this one. It's definitely a slow-burner. It felt like a gritty crime flick from the '70s. It's very talkie and very violent. There is not much to the plot but that doesn't really matter because the material is handled so well. Pitt is great as well as everyone else. The direction is top-notch.

Re: Last movie you watched

Safety Not Guaranteed. The whole cute feel-good indy comedy about a paranoid, socially awkward outsider with an arsenal of firearms and kooky survivalist tendencies was off-putting, to say the least.

I never thought it was a feel good, indie comedy. Maybe that's how it was billed but I didn't have those expectations. It was mostly dark with bits of comedy thrown in.

GI Joe: Retaliation 3D: Fun action-packed pre-summer popcorn movie. Dwayne Johnson carried it as Roadblock. Much better than the previous film.

Dawn of the Dead (2004) - 1.5/5

I try to give these remakes a chance and every time I do I wind up hating myself for it.
