La Notte - 4.5/5
A day in the empty lives of a wealthy couple whose marriage is all but disintegrated, but yet they can't let go of each other. A very simple story, but as with all the works of Michelangelo Antonioni it is in no way a simple film. Below its surface there are plenty of layers that symbolically reveal the emotional inner turmoil of the main characters. Some may find it boring, I find it fascinating.

Running for his Life: The Lawrence Phillips story (2016)
Sports documentary film about the tragic story of Lawrence Phillips. He played Running Back for Nebraska and had a very brief NFL career.
I know most in this thread who comment and post probably aren't sports fans, but this was such an amazing film about a really talented young man who had a promising career ahead until alcohol and violence against women ended his career and sent him to prison. He ultimately committed suicide back in January. It was honestly chilling. It was a mix of sports film along with true crime documentary.
It's narrated by Jeffrey Wright who's in the HBO series Westworld.
Even if you've never heard of him and aren't a sports fan, I think this is still a really compelling watch and you can still enjoy it. It's currently available on Showtime and all it's platforms.

He had a sad life and needed somebody who loved him.

Continued our MCU movie marathon into Phase 2 by watching Ironman 3 (Tuesday) and Thor: The Dark World (Wednesday)... they were a chore to get through, but now I get to watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier tonight. It's in my Top 5 in the MCU.

Terror Train (1980)
New Year''s Evil (1980)
Saw these as part of a Double Feature at a local theater. Cruddy crowd but it was great to see these on the big screen!

The Hollars...not very good. Good actors in a maudlin, but sentimental movie that is kinda by the numbers. Hopefully Krasinski has better up his sleeve.
La La Land...magical, wonderful, whimsical. what a great movie this time of year. the performances were stellar. the dance and musical numbers perfect. the opening, grand. just loved this one.

Dreamscape...loved this one since a wee lad. Always stuck with me. Not a fan of Shout/Sream transfers to be honest. This one looks dark. But enjoy this one and the extras are of course great.

The Sting - 4/5
After the death of his mentor by a Chicago crime syndicate, a con man joins forces with an old friend of the deceased man. Together they plan to swindle $500,000 from the syndicate boss responsible for the death of their friend. Four years after Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Paul Newman and Robert Redford team up again with George Roy Hill directing. Just like BC&TSK I found this film to be overrated but I prefer it over the western.

Dazed & Confused - 1/5
Teenagers partying on the last day of high school in 1976. For me Richard Linklater is hit or miss and this is definitely an overrated miss. I'd rather watch Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Gladiator - 2/5
Sword and sandal wannabe epic about a loyal Roman General who after the death of his Emperor is betrayed by his jealous son. Another mediocre offering with a weak script from the man who gave us Alien & Blade Runner. Doesn't even come close to something like Ben-Hur or Spartacus. Just slightly better than Kingdom of Heaven, only because Russell Crowe is more tolerable as a leading man that the wretched Orlando Bloom. One star a piece for the late great Oliver Reed & Richard Harris.
