Popstar...barely made it through, but I did. Not my humor. Did like the last song. Michael Bolton has an amazing voice.

I watched The Nice Guys (2016) tonight and I really liked it. I think this is the best movie that Russell Crow has been in in quite some time and I really liked him in it. 4/5

If their goal was to make a supernatural thriller with almost no thrill, they succeeded. Found this very boring.

Twilight - 3.5/5

A retired private eye doing a favor for a friend gets himself tangled in a web of blackmail and murder. Good neo-noir with a great performance by Paul Newman.

Big Eyes - an interesting story, very well acted by Walz and Adams. I was expecting Burton to make it a little more quirky, but he just played it straight.

To call this bad is doing an injustice to bad movies. Can't believe this was made. I thought he was funny in the couple of other things I saw him in. I need to start checking IMDB ratings before I drop $3.00 on a rental. I know those things aren't gospel but when a movie has a rating of 3, I will head the warning.

2.5/5

Movie is flawed. David Lynch tried too much to make a complex sci-fi classic novel to the big sceen and result was a box office bomb. Still a guilty pleasure of mine and kind curious on what the remake will be like.

Captain America: Civil War...excellent the second time around, just excellent. Everything about this one was just about perfect. Evans fucking nails it. Wasn't a lover of the first two. Very good, but didn't grab me wholeheartedly, but this third entry is brilliant. Even the end credit sequences were riveting. Second favorite behind Iron Man in MCU. 4.5 stars.

The Assassin - 4.5/5

Another excellent film from the great Hou Hsiao-hsien. Those expecting tons of action and swordplay, look somewhere else.
Those who are fans of Hou's other films and his unconventional filmmaking style, this "anti-wuxia" film is for you.

I watched I'll See You in My Dreams last night and it was fantastic. Blythe Danner, Martin Starr and Sam Elliott are fantastic in this. 5/5

Grandview, U.S.A...was hoping it would be a nice 80's throwback about teen love and growing up. It wasn't.

John Rambo...remember loving the brutality of this one. Watching the extended cut, it's still a solid movie, but the CG and especially blood was terrible. Can't wait to revisit first one.

Time Walker (1982). I've heard a lot of comments from 80's sci-fi/horror fans how dull this one is, but I enjoyed it.
Spoiler:
The TO BE CONTINUED at the conclusion was a bit unnecessary, however. It plays like a cheesy cliffhanger to a television show
.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

The Magnificent Seven (2016)...saw this last night. certainly a well-made, slickly produced film, but so formulaic, generic and highly predictable, right down to the last gun shot. yes, i know it's based on previous properties, but Fuqua could have made it his own and at least added something original. liked hardly anything about it. the performances were ok, D'Onofrio stands out, but cared little of who lived or died. was surprised at the body count for the good guys, but this did little to cement its name in the pantheon of great or even good modern-day westerns.
