Don't forget Boardwalk Empire and The Iceman
It seems like he has been around for a while in a lot of supporting roles beginning around 2000 and you forget he appeared in Pearl Harbor, 8 Mile, Vanilla Sky, Tigerland, Bad Boys II, World Trade Center, and the Woodsman.

I actually didn't like Shannon for a while following Bug, he came off as over-the-top to me, but then I also never found the movie particularly engaging so it was much more apparent.
His performance in Take Shelter won me back over.

Smoke - 3.5/5
The stories of five individuals and the interactions between them as they try to put order in their chaotic lives. Told in five separate vignettes and centering around the owner of a Brooklyn smoke shop. A good film in which some of the weakness in the writing is saved by some great acting.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005) - 4.5/5
Not as dark and brooding as Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Oldboy but it was a nice conclusion of the Vengeance trilogy. Surprising to find a bit of humour thorough out the film.

Starlet - 4/5
A 21 year-old woman purchases a thermos at a garage sale from a woman in her 80's. After taking the thermos home and discovering that it is filled with money, the younger woman decides to reach out to the older woman in order to find out why she was unaware of what was inside. A realistic film about the unlikely friendship between two completely different individuals and the humanity that brings them together.

The Duke of Burgundy - 4/5
The lines between reality and fantasy start to blur in a sadomasochistic relationship between two women. Although I wasn't a huge fan of writer/director Peter Strickland's Berberian Sound Studio I did respect its daring and originality. This film gets it right and a good one it is. What if Luis Buñuel made a 70's European softcore film in the vein of Walerian Borowczyk or Radley Metzger? This would probably be it. I'll be looking forward to whatever Strickland does next.

Rented the DVD actually for The Intern yesterday. I actually found it quite enjoyable.
Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway were an odd pairing initially, but they grew on me as the movie progressed. The movie was more about an unlikely friendship between them.

The Visit (2015)
I've been down on M. Night's work lately, but I found this somewhat entertaining. However, I wasn't really a fan of this being shot "Found footage" style.
Highlight or Lowlight of the movie, one of the lead kids gets a diaper of shit stuffed in his face.

Sinister 2 (2015)
Didn't like this at all. Wasn't scary. 2 very annoying kids were the lead along with the mother.

Girlhood - 3.5/5
After flunking out of school, a young girl from the projects on the outskirts of Paris hits the streets and joins a gang. A good film on the struggles of being young, poor and female.

Slow West - 3.5/5
In the 1870's, a young man from a wealthy family travels from Scotland to the uncivilized American West in search of the peasant woman with whom he is in love with. A good western that I would have liked more if the story took itself a bit more serious. Worth watching for Michael Fassbender and another great performance from Ben Mendelsohn.

Frank - 3/5
A young man looking to make a living as a songwriter is asked to fill in for the suicidal keyboardist in an experimental underground band. After the gig he is recruited as a permanent member by the eccentric singer/songwriter who covers his real head with a papier-mache one. Eventually ideologies clash when the newest member tries to influence the band to expand their popularity by going on a more commercial path. Could have used some more serious moments to expand on the supporting characters and less of the lead character who I found annoying. Worth watching for Michael Fassbender's great performance.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension
Hated it. Thank God it was under 90 minutes. I'm just so over and bored with the concept of the found footage horror genre. I've seen every movie in this series (except the Hispanic spinoff) and it just got progressively worse.
The only thing that would have made this movie more tolerable would have been a cameo by original star Katie Featherston in her wife beater and shorts.
