The Man From U.N.C.L.E. - very very good; possible the best movie to capture what A TV series was all about. Not campy like I Spy or Batman - very good in the MI/Bourne vein. Napoleon vs Illya interaction was done very well.
Recommended.

Starred Up and '71 are two of the best movies I've seen in the past year. Unbroken sure looks hokey as hell, was a great book though.

Men At Lunch (2012), a short and not especially illuminating documentary about the iconic New York photo of eleven ironworkers sitting on a girder. The segments featuring the Rockefeller and Corbis archives are interesting, but way too much time is spent interviewing unqualified or barely qualified subjects who do little more than pontificate or conjecture. It could have easily been trimmed to half of its already brief 65 minute run time.

Straight Outta Compton (2015)
Terrific and gritty movie with great performances. It probably won't get any awards, but I think this is one of the best movies of 2015. I seriously thought it was that good.

Cub (2014)
It's been getting mixed reviews, but I found a lot to love about it. While it's not entirely original, it doesn't dwell in just pure nostalgia. The execution & cast (made up of mostly children) is solid all around.
Can't wait to see what Jonas Govaerts comes up with next.

Footloose (2011) - 2/5
Let me preface that I love the original but I also know that it's not a perfect movie. It's cheesy but somehow it works because of the chemistry. But man, after watching the remake, it sure makes me long for the original. The remake tries too hard but it lacks the original's charms. There was one thing that I liked about it though, trying to make the movie more ethnically diverse was a nice touch.

Kung Fury (2015)
Too much fun crammed into a 30-minute film. I'm actually happy this ended up being a short instead of a full-length film.

No Escape (2015)
Saw a free screening tonight. Officially opens next Wednesday. Very intense action thriller.
I'd give it a B-

Creep (2014) - found-footage film with only two actors, the film is the first of a three-part series which was originally titled "Peachfuzz" - guy answers an ad on Craigslist to film a man supposedly dying of cancer and things aren't what they seem - I'll just leave it at that. I like horror films, even the bad-but-good ones, I had no idea what this film was about going into it but was pleasantly surprised and highly recommend.

Embrace of the Vampire...dreadful. not even Milano nudity could save this wretched piece of crap.
Beyond the Reach...dreadful. not even Douglass posturing could save this wretched piece of crap.
