A Walk Among The Tombstones - Cinemax on-demand during free Xfinity HBO/Cinemax preview weekend (I will assume it ends this Sunday, I do not subscribe to Cinemax). Dark film, but one I watched from start to finish without interruptions.

Cold Sweat - 2.5/5

Stylish Argentinian thriller about a couple of young adults looking for their missing friend. Should have been better.

Gardens of the Night - 3.5/5

An eight year old girl is abducted from her family and forced into pornography and prostitution. Ten years later we see the same girl, who never returned home, now a homeless drug abusing 18 year old selling her body on the streets unable to escape the damage of her past. Good film that was a bit difficult to watch sometimes because of the disturbing subject matter.

The Snowtown Murders - 4.5/5

A chilling look at how a weak minded teen living in poverty falls under the spell of a killer and joins him on a spree of violence.
Excellent well made minimalist film that at times feels like a documentary and reminded me of Henry : Portrait of a Serial Killer.

Evolution - Cinemax Preview Weekend on-demand. I had forgotten how much fun this film is, and it looks great in HD.

Also, when I talked to my dad yesterday he informed me that instead of going to see Jurassic World, instead he went to the movies with my brother in law and saw Mad Max Fury Road. I know that folks will be happy to hear that he helped contribute to MM: FR's bottom line. Oh, and to answer the question...yes, he really enjoyed the film.

Rented all these last night:

The Duff -- Funny and sweet. Mae Whitman is really cute in it.

Run All Night -- Decent, but forgettable Liam Neeson action-drama. He really just sleep walked through this movie. Good supporting cast though.

The Lazarus Effect -- Watchable, but forgettable science fiction Frankenstein influenced horror flick.

Project Almanac -- Pretty cool found footage time traveling movie.

Also rented the DVD of Hot Tub Time Machine 2. So dumb. I only lasted 40 minutes and couldn't take it anymore. All the humor and chemistry from the 1st movie was gone. Just a lame follow up for a movie that didn't even need a sequel.

Three Kings - 2/5

After finding a map on an Iraqi POW, four US soldiers go on a secret mission to recover gold bullion that was stolen from Kuwait by Saddam Hussien's troops.
A well made film with a silly predictable story in which everyone is a caricature except for the leads.

Much less like a Taken movie than some of the other routine actioners he's been doing as of late. Not bad, had some whoop-ass, but certainly the weakest of the three.

Glad to see Maggie Grace is no longer trying to portray a teen. A little annoyed at just how easily his frame would have been discovered. The timeline never made sense.

Little White Lie - 4/5

Documentary about the daughter of Jewish parents from Brooklyn who starts to have doubts about who she really is because of her dark skin. Good film about a persons struggle with their racial identity and how they view themselves and are viewed by others.

Rampage - 4/5

After going on a murder spree, a man is put on trial to determine whether or not he is insane. Underrated film by William Friedkin about the shady dealings that go on behind the scenes of a courtroom and makes you think about how broken the criminal justice system really is.

The Iceman - 2.5/5

Average film about organized crime hitman Richard Kuklinski who's only saving grace is Michael Shannon's chilling performance.

John Wick (HBO). I had a big grin on my face throughout the entire film...so glad I finally saw the movie that everyone was talking about late last year.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day - Starz

It turned out to be a charming film, and I definitely recommend it if you are into light family friendly comedies.

Goodbye to Language - 1/5

Words can't describe how angry I was when this was over. At a mere 69 minutes this felt like it was twice as long. One of the greatest filmmakers of all time has become a parody of himself. How sad.
