That Queen Latifah looking in the mirror nude scene would never end but overall it was a decent movie.

Margaret (Extended Cut) - 1.5/5
A young woman's life is changed forever when she distracts a bus driver which causes him to accidentally run over a pedestrian. A very messy & unfocused film filled with some of the most spoiled, self centered, annoying Upper West Side Mahattanite characters ever captured on film. Move over Woody Allen.

The Milk of Sorrow - 2/5
After the passing of her mother, young woman from a poor Peruvian village suffers from a condition called "The Milk of Sorrow". Legend has it that when a woman is raped during wartime, she passes the trauma through her breast milk to her offspring. A beautiful looking film that gets a bit too caught up in its own superstition, distancing the audience.

Donnie Darko (Director's Cut) - 2.5/5
One day a mentally unstable young man with the help of his imaginary friend cheats death only to find out that the world will end in 28 days. Not a bad film that sometimes feels like it is trying to outsmart its audience by making itself more complicated than it really is.

Reds - 3.5/5
Biopic romance about the relationship between communist writers John Reed and Louise Bryant during the Russian Revolution. A good film that that was more interesting when it focused on the politics instead of the romance. Would have also preferred someone else in the lead role, I find Warren Beatty to be overrated as an actor.

Focus - Not bad but uneven and doesn't fulfill its potential. Will Smith and Margot Robbie are great together, however. 3.75/5
Jupiter Ascending - I still don't know what I watched but its apparent the Wachowskis are on the downslide. The visual effects at least were incredible and for those interested, it does look and sound fantastic on Blu-ray. 2.0/5
Blindsided - No real surprise why this didn't see a release in the U.S. for 2-3 years (where it's been available on DVD overseas) but I guess Keaton getting an Oscar nomination helped. However, it's a bad movie made tolerable because of Keaton. 2.0/5

Didn't have the kid for a few days, so my wife and I got several movies in.
Mad Max: Fury Road - Great movie. Low on plot/character development, made up for in every other possible way.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Also a good movie. I'm not sure how I'm going to put the two recent Apes movies into a chronological order with the original 5. It seems like they are retelling the stories.
Lucy - I didn't really care for this one. It didn't seem to go anywhere, and Johansson was too robotic for me to care about her at all.
Cowboys & Aliens - After seeing the preview some years ago, I somehow thought this was a movie geared more for children/teens, so it kind of surprised me when it wasn't. Anyway, I liked it, found it pretty humorous and well done.

Not sure about that. Made $127.6M domestically (after a $36.2M OW, very respectable 3.5x multiplier) and another $275M overseas for a $403M worldwide haul.

Blackhat (2015)
Actually watched this via On Demand as opposed to BD. Hemsworth is miscast. Too much computer techno babble talk at the beginning. Some decent action though.
I'd give it a C. Not one of Michael Mann's better efforts.

Fanny & Alexander (Television Version) - 4.5/5
Two years in the life of a bourgeois Swedish family in the early 1900's as seen through the eyes of a nine year old boy. For his final film (at the time) Bergman takes all the themes of his past films (loss of faith, human suffering, duality of man, etc..) and makes something with a more mainstream appeal that sometimes feels like an adult fairy tale. An excellent film if a bit overpraised, especially when compared to Bergman's earlier masterpieces.
