Going Places - 4/5
The escapades of two degenerates who refuse to live by any rules and the chaos they bring to the lives of those who cross their paths. A road film with a great cast that feels like a cross between the 60's French New Wave and the grittier cinema of the 70's. Funny, tragic and at times offensive.

Interstellar
My appreciation for it continues to grow. And, after watching the special features, I'm amazed at how much Christopher Nolan uses practical effects over CGI. The rig they built for the Endurance was spectacular.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
I just watched Minority Report for possibly the first time since it was released on DVD. Solid flick but a lot more uneven than I remember. There was one scene/moment that really suck out, and I didn't recall at all, where the main character is running from the police and he's on the back of a cop who has a jet pack. They burst through an apartment window and fly around while the residents flip out and at one point they fly over the stove and their is a shot of the flames on the jetpack cooking hamburgers on the grill. It was like something out of Temple of Doom and completely against the tone of this film.
There were a few other moments that did quite fit with the film, like the milk and sandwich in the fridge, but generally it had some good action and solid performances, if a bit hammy at times. The ending was weak. The main character spends most of the final 20 minutes of the film off screen or in voice over. The final voice over epilogue really felt like it was going out with a whimper.
PS. I also thought it was funny seeing the glass slides/media they use to transfer files around or play media files. And the faux "3d" in the projected home movies looked horrible.

Her - 2/5
In the near future, a professional letter writer going through a divorce begins to fall for another woman. The new woman is an advanced operating system on his computer who learns by interacting with its owner. Wanted to like this one more, but the main character's infatuation with his gadgets makes him a bit creepy. The story comes across like some whiney nerd's misogynistic daydream fantasy of owning the perfect obedient woman with sprinkles of cutesiness throughout. It did have some excellent visuals and interesting moments like when the main character actually interacts with real women.

Crystal Fairy & The Magical Cactus - 3/5
An American living in Chile along with his three Chilean friends make plans to hit the road on a quest for a hallucinogenic cactus. Things take a different turn when at a party he bumps into a fellow American hippy woman and accidentally invites her on the quest. Not bad, with some hilarious moments by Michael Cera & Gaby Hoffman. Why is it that funny road films always have a tendency to get a little too serious towards the end?

The Monkey's Mask - 2/5
When a young female poet goes missing, her family hires a female private investigator to track her down. A predictable lesbian themed neo-noir filled with amateur dialogue.

Cinderella New take on the old fairy tale. Enjoyable enough however made some changes to the traditional animation and made it longer which wasn't necessarily an improvement.
