Re: Last movie you watched
Key word right there, "Fun". Both Doll House & Big Bird Cage are fun movies, but I was suprised at how bleak & mean-spirited Women/Cages was compared to those two. If you haven't watched Bird Cage yet, be sure to have that one lined up after you're done with Women/Cages. You might need it.

Nordkraft - 3/5 - Danish film about 3 people and their ties to the world of drugs.
Kiss Me Deadly - 3/5 - Not as good as it's predecessors from the 40's.

Jour de Fete
I had previously watched Tati's films in order (Mr. Hulot's Holiday,Mon Oncle,Playtime) and thought each one got progressively aggrivating. Since Jour de Fete preceded that trio, it would make sense that I would like that one, correct? INDEED! This ended up being the best Tati film I've seen yet (Not counting Illusionist)

Butter (2011)
This was... bizarre. A film about butter sculpting, ostensibly, this is really just another quirky, mildly dark ensemble comedy with Jennifer Garner channeling a bit of Kathleen Turner in Serial Mom (minus the killing). Rob Corrdry and Alicia Silverstone play the coolest foster parents ever. Hugh Jackman has a glorified cameo that produces a hilarious, short monolgue about Garner's vagina. And you get to see (ok, it's implied, but still...) Olivia Wilde go down on a hot high school chick. And they make out. Much butter (see what I did there?!) than expected.
Yep, that was it. And it was killer. All those wonderful, scratched-to-hell trailers, then a screening of Django Unchained in glorious 35mm. Since it's playing there until Feb. 28th, I may just go back again.
Funny note: as usual, even on a slow Mon night, Clu Gulager was sitting in his front row seat. I know he's at the theater almost every night, so I feel bad for him that Django is the only scheduled film until the end of next month!

Wrecked - 2/5 - Adrien Brody wakes up with amnesia in a crashed car in the middle of the woods with 2 dead passengers & a bunch of cash in the trunk.
Sounds like an interesting premise but it wasn't.

Invitation Only (2009): Taiwanese Slasher film. Delivered on the level of gore and boobs (Maria Ozawa!). Thought the film dragged in it's final 45 minutes and the villain was pretty boring.

Lars and the Real Girl- Wow what a huge waste of time. Even with the ridiculous premise, I still decided to check this film out based on critical acclaim and positive word of mouth. Plus it had Ryan Gosling and Emily Mortimer, so I figured it couldn't be too bad. Nearly two hours of absurdity passed, with a whole town treating a sex doll like a real person. What a shit movie.

Rented
Officer Down (B action movie starring Stephen Dorff, David Boreanaz, James Woods, Walton Goggins) Not bad Police thriller with an interesting twist.
End of Watch: Loved this. Really exciting and hardcore Police thriller in the same style of Southland on TNT.

Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990)
I really love this entry. When you need to bang out a competent horror sequel, call Jeff Burr (seriously, check his IMDb). I really wish the producers hadn't toned down the script. I also wish the MPAA hadn't forced Burr to hack the film to pieces. Still, it's a damn good entry with some brutal gory moments and lots of dark humor. The alt. ending on the DVD is what they should've used, though. Foree surviving a chainsaw to the head is laughable, at best.
