Oblivion -- 7/19/2013 -- S: Cruise, Freeman, kurylenko D:Kosinski

Looks like a movie up my alley:

http://m.deadline.com/2012/02/game-o...e-in-oblivion/

Based on Kosinski’s own graphic novel, the picture is set in a future where the Earth surface has been rendered uninhabitable, with most humans living above the clouds. Back on earth, those who remain have to deal with brutal alien Scavengers that stalk the ruins. But when a surface drone repairman (Cruise) discovers a mysterious woman in a crash-landed pod, it sets off an unstoppable chain of events that will force him to question everything he knows. Coster-Waldau will play Sykes, a battle-hardened, physically imposing, intelligent and extremely athletic military technology and weapons expert.

Any read the graphic novel? Good story?

Great, so they're doing a dark and gritty remake of the Jetsons?

Sounds good to me. Can't wait to see the first trailer to get a better feel for the movie.

But will it be as dull and lifeless as Tron: Legacy? The world waits.

Tom Cruise in science fiction? I'll take it.

Love Minority Report! Morgan Freeman is awesome too. Perfect combo on screen.

Yep. Cruise has a damn good track record of choosing good films to do.

Re: Oblivion -- 7/19/2013 -- S: Cruise, Freeman, kurylenko D:Kosinski

Two worlds collide next year when Anthony Gonzalez (of M83) scores Tom Cruise’s next sci-fi vehicle, Oblivion. Due for theatrical release next April, the Joseph Kosinski-directed picture focuses on a veteran soldier-turned-space explorer (Cruise) sent to a distant planet to destroy the last remnants of an alien race. Sounds fitting for the sounds of M83, right?

“I’m not afraid to do my first soundtrack on a big Hollywood movie, with a big budget and a lot of pressure,” Gonzalez told The Playlist. “I like challenges and it excites me more than frightens me.”

Gonzalez previously contributed pieces of music to French director Gilles Marchand’s Black Heaven in 2010.

I like M83 and think this could turn out to be a pretty great score.

Oblivion (2013, Dir. Kosinski, Starring Cruise)

Huh, never heard of this but apparently its out in April. Post apocalypse. Cool poster, trailer comes Sunday.

On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind. Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete. Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Man...they're fast about taking it down. Saw that same trailer from someone that posted it an hour ago, a minute later when I was about to embed it...it got taken down.

On the subject of the trailer: Looks pretty cool. I'll see it for sure.

From that poster, I was expecting it to be a million years in the future or something. It looks like the buildings turned to stone.
