Have to agree with you there. I generally like Clerks 2 a lot, but the character's monologue seemed so off, -so clueless and unrealistic for a person his age, -that it just grated on me.

Get ready for a year or so of Kevin telling us this is his favorite thing he's worked on ever...followed by a huge letdown when we finally see the finished product.

re: Clerks III (2022, D: Kevin Smith)

I don't recall if it was posted at some point above (or in any other Smith thread) but Smith finally revealed why Anderson was holding out. Apparently Smith was approached about this being a low budget affair again and that's how he pitched it to Anderson. Anderson's response was in effect, "why do we always have to be the low budget guys? The studio makes millions, isn't it time we got paid real money for making these?"

It's easy to just simplify it down to "he wanted more money" but I can't blame the guy, he's kinda right. Also, in a lot of cases, he's a big reason why people love Clerks (sorry Dante/O'Halleran).

There isn't anyone better at delivering Smith's dialogue.

If Tusk and Yoga Hosers are any indication of where his head is at these days... yikes!

O'Halleran sounds like he's reading lines. Anderson sometimes sounded that way, but mostly sounded natural.
Also, as I recall, Smith said that Anderson wasn't really into professional acting that much like the others. I'm sure he enjoyed the paychecks for what they were, but it didn't really seem like that was what he wanted to do with his life, which is why it was a bit of a struggle for Smith to keep bringing him back.

Been a while since I've seen it, but didn't the Quick Stop burn down in Clerks II? Randal left a pot of coffee on or something like that?

A wonderful nod to the "Shake a Tail Feather" scene from The Blues Brothers.

Clerks II is my favorite KS film bar none.

Brian Quinn from Impractical Jokers said he filmed something for C3. Bryan Johnson also said he was headed in to film something as well on the TESD podcast.

Re: Clerks III (2022, D: Kevin Smith)

I'm optimistic. The Clerks stuff always landed the best (even the short lived animated series), so I think he'll make a nice little coda to that story.

Re: Clerks III (2022, D: Kevin Smith)

For me, it's all about these characters. I loved getting to see older versions of them in Clerks II, so the fact that we'll have Dante and Randall at three different ages now delights me.

O’Halloran's starting to look like modern day Mathew Perry.

Let me guess...Dante and Randal's daughters have to step in and save the Quick Stop from going out of business.
