I wonder what the twist at the end will be?
One thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind's new home. Shyamalan has a good record. Even if he is a little douchey and overconfident. To me, The Last Airbender was his only real failure. I appreciated The Happening because of the risks it took, and how it played out like a simple Twilight Zone story. Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and Lady in the Water were perfect movies, I thought. The Village was alright. I just couldn't get into The Last Airbender.
I hope this one is fun. But who knows. I'll at least wait for a trailer.

Night has pretty much moved away from twists hasn't he? Obviously The Sixth Sense, The Village and Unbreakable had twists. People talk about Signs having a twist, but I didn't think that was a twist at all. Lady in the Water didn't have a twist and neither did The Happening. I never saw the Last Airbender, so I don't know about that one.
Less than half of his movies have had twists.
I actually really like Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village and Lady in the Water. I thought The Happening was atrocious and Last Airbender didn't interest me so I never saw it. For the most part I'm a fan of Night's movies. I like Will Smith too, so I'm totally on board with this.

"Daddy Smith" is also one of the producers on the film.
Caleeb Pinkett, Jada's brother is also a producer.
I guess M. Night is now a director for hire.

However, this time around, the script isn’t being handled solely by Shyamalan; in fact, Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli) wrote the original script draft, before Shyamalan did a rewrite. Oscar-winner Stephen Gaghan is the most recent writer to try his hand at the After Earth screenplay and is reportedly going to continue polishing it until production officially begins.

Odd combination, considering how Shyalaman has been relegated to lower-grade offerrings, and Smith is generally box office gold.
I liked Shyalaman's earlier efforts. Signs has its detractors (mainly because of the ending) but I've always loved it. I thought his next two were mediocre but not terrible. Then The Happening was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, to the point where it started to come across as entertaining from the wrong direction.
