Wow, it seems really early for this. They should wait until at least December and see who has the awards buzz.

Yeah, they did one round of the director's interviews a little early in 2009, including Peter Jackson for The Lovely Bones. A couple months later they did another round and everyone else was there except for him.

He's directed more movies than either Lee Daniels or Steve McQueen. Yes he deals more with comedy, but the guy is an established Hollywood power player.

Still...yes, he's a little out of place.

Stiller has directed nothing Academy award worthy. I'm not a fan of Daniels but with Precious and assuming The Butler getting some recognition that's two more than anything Stiller has directed. He's got skins on the wall. Stiller was a lot more than a little out of place.

The Cable Guy is a great character study, though.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is being positioned for Oscar consideration. No surprise seeing him there.

Also, Zoolander is better than anything Daniels ever has done or will do. And, if we're being honest, Alfonso Cuaron as well.

Based on their choices, I guess it was very hard getting prominent actresses to do the roundtable.

"While working on 12 Years a Slave we really had to be culturally selective to the food we put out, we didn't want to offend anybody."

I love these things. SOOOOOO informational. The best for me will always be Christopher Plummer bitching about Malick. His bitching about that isn't even exclusive to that roundtable. Working Malick just devalued him and it struck a nerve with him.
