Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to the series? Would you like to Craig's Bond have a multi-movie villain?
I think it would be cool if handled tastefully and I think they could make it work. I've got no idea who should play him. Philip Seymour Hoffman? Liam Neeson? |
Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
I would think that'd be a bad idea. Personally I wouldn't want it either.
Especially if he were ever to wear that clothing that was parodied in the Austin Powers flicks. I'm still wondering if we'll ever get more stuff from Quantum cuz that was interesting and it had a very fucking nice sequence in QoS when Bond saw who they were. I'd like that to be followed up on. |
Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
I'd like to see a multi-film villain, although I believe that ship has sailed at this point. I was hoping that SPECTRE would be revealed in QoS. I don't think they literally need Blofeld, but a formidable, imposing foe who lasts more than one outing wouldn't be so bad.

Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
I also assumed that Quantum was the new SPECTRE and that it was going to be a continuing villain. Still could be. Just because Bond tackles one-off villains doesn't mean that there can't be a larger organization they're trying to defeat over a longer period.
Probably doesn't need to be Blofeld, but it wouldn't be so bad if it were. |
Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
I agree with the two guys who posted before me.
I like the idea of the head bad guy who's running the show and the tough guy out in the field, I.E., Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me. |
Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
Blofeld is owned by Kevin McClory (or his estate anyhow). The Bond producers couldnt use Blofeld without paying McClorry. Thats why they killed off the character at the beginning of For Your Eyes Only, without referring to him specifically by name.

I need to see that again. Sounds hilarious.

Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
That opening sequence is cringe-worthy even by Roger Moore standards.

I don't think audiences today would tolerate a movie where the villain gets away again and again. Even Magneto goes to jail at the end of the movie (although he promptly escapes in the sequel).

Wow that was painful.

Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
That was the 80s. Everyone in movies was high on cocaine.
|
Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
its actually pretty fun when you are 11 years old and see it in the theater opening night, no spoilers back then and its like "Cool! Blofeld in a Roger Moore Bond film!"

P.S.-It would be cool to see a bigger villain in control of Quantum. It certainly seemed like it was going towards that. Maybe they could get Connery out of retirement. |

If only they could find a way

I trust you had a pleasant... fright!

Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
To be fair, the core of For Your Eyes Only (basically everything other than the pre-credit sequence with Blofeld) is really great. I consider it the best of Roger Moore's tenure.

Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
Yeah, I really liked For Your Eyes Only, I dig the swinging 70s soundtrack too.

Re: Do you think we'll see Blofeld return to Bond series?
For Your Eyes Only is decent, but has some problems, such as the opening, Bond running around in a grandpa sweater refusing sex, and the underwater stuff drags on.
