Yep. I initially wondered about him not being able to make it to the 18th of December. I guess he passed just a few days after seeing the film.

Really sad stuff. Great job by Disney making this happen & letting him screen the film at his home, too.

As another poster said, they really cut this close.

Looks like a Tusken Raider staff jammed into Darth Maul's saber then the whole thing jammed into a rifle.

I've wanted to see it for years.

McGregor is fantastic in the prequels, and we know those don't have good scripts. So bring on the solo movie!

But I thought you wanted an Obi-Wan movie.

It is rumored, yes. And McGregor has publicly said he wants to do it.

What could a standalone Obi-Wan movie be about? It would be hard to do a Clone Wars era movie without any of the other characters like Anakin, Yoda, Palpatine, etc. The only thing that makes much sense would be a standalone movie set between ROTS and ANH, but he was a hermit in the middle of a desert then. That sounds boring watching a 2 hour movie on the life of a hermit.

I dunno. I could tolerate an Obi-Wan film but also... he was in self exile or whatever during that time... so what adventures could he have during RotS and SW?

Not much that are worth a damn.

It could be like a Man With No Name in the Star Wars universe. Helping out civilizations on Tatooine.

Although the previous books are no longer cannon, this one here could give you an idea: http://www.amazon.com/Kenobi-Star-Wa.../dp/0345546849

That doesn't make any sense though. He is supposed to be hiding from the Empire. If he is out helping people, that's a very good way for word to reach the Emperor that there is a Jedi on Tatooine.

Just because he's in hiding from the Empire doesn't mean he doesn't have any interactions with people for 18 years.

True, but he isn't going to be flashing around his lightsaber and using Force powers. Just generally helping out people without using those things still seems like a good way for word to get out to the Empire that there is a do-gooder on Tatooine. Tatooine is a hive of scum and villainy, so a do-gooder would be out of place, and the Empire would probably want to investigate. I would think Obi-Wan would be smarter than that and know not to get involved in local affairs or risk exposing himself.

Look more like a rifle spear. I played too much of Bloodborne.

Those covers seem to have some spoilers...

Bigger, badder Death Star pretty much confirms it is Death Star III.
The disappearance of Luke pretty much confirms the early rumors of Luke living as a hermit.
Princess Leia now goes by.... KYLO REN!!

Kylo Ren: Luke never told you the truth about your mother.
Rey: He told me enough. He told me you killed her.
Kylo Ren: No, I am your mother!
Rey: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It would be interesting if Lucas still had the reigns whether this 'where is Luke?' marketing promotion would even exist? It's really interesting how much JJ & Kasdan have changed things, and explains why Lucas is nowhere to be found.

So it isn't just Finn vs Kylo. It is Finn and Rey vs Kylo, like several people thought previously. It does look like Rey is probably going to be knocked out and Finn uses her lightsaber. Wonder if we will get a remix of Duel of the Fates during this battle...

I'd wager just the opposite happens. Pretty sure it's Finn on the ground that Rey is crying over in the trailer.

The EW site is playing havoc with my browser, but here's a link to their new photo gallery:

Playing Duel of the Fates again?

I would hope not.

That would just be tacky, imo.

I agree as you gotta go with a new main theme. You can use the OT character themes for their situation, but any new character should get a new theme.

The way she is crying though it seems like whoever is on the ground is dead. I seriously doubt they are going to kill Finn. He and Rey will probably be the main characters throughout the trilogy. I guess he could just be seriously wounded though. Another arm/hand chopping scene perhaps. That seems like a lot of tears for someone who isn't dead though.

I guess it could be Finn's lightsaber too. Thinking about it some more, just because Finn has a lightsaber doesn't mean he is a Jedi. It could just be like a relic or souvenir or something that he acquired somewhere. He isn't a Jedi though and isn't properly trained with a lightsaber. Maybe he gets knocked out, and then Rey uses the lightsaber and demonstrates that she is a Jedi potential.
