I wonder if that is a Bothan? I don't think they have been on screen before, and it is similar to comics/descriptions.

In the comics, Bothans were usually depicted looking like those kangaroo dudes from Warriors of Virtue. I don't think they've been featured in the "new canon" comics or Clone Wars series, so the appearance could always change:

I'm sure this has been brought up, but watching the second teaser and specifically the Luke voice over when he says "my father *has* it" got me wondering if there will be an Anakin or Obi Wan force ghost in this. Both actors are dead and they wouldn't touch Hayden Christensen with a ten foot light saber. But they also haven't announced Max Von Sydow's role in the film. I mean, he's gotta be playing either Anakin or Obi Wan as a force ghost doesn't he?

Spoiler:
That could be totally wrong, though, since I've stopped following spoilers. Someone like Joe who's really keeping up with things may be able to better answer.

^ I've only seen that description pop up once (on reddit, maybe?), so it could just be a rumor. Even if it is the backstory of his character, it might not be mentioned in the movie. There is a tie-in book coming out called Lost Stars that appears to cover exactly how that Star Destroyer ended up on Jakku:

That people are still falling for the "Jakku" bit, especially since there are photos out there that show both pod racers and moisture vaporators in the desert scenes. Hey, there's a chance there's a city on Tatooine CALLED Jakku, or that the Resistance re-named the planet for some odd reason, but it's Tatooine. If it wasn't, you'd think the production design team would have been a little more original with the sets.
Plus, given Lucas's desire stated in original BTS materials that themes should repeat themselves in the trilogies, Tatooine makes perfect sense, since it's a major planet for Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker and now, the next Skywalker.

^ That would be pointless subterfuge on Abrams part, but you never know. It is a little weak to copy the same design elements for a new planet -- but it stands to reason that there would be moisture vaporators on any desert location in this universe.
In other news: An upcoming TFA LEGO set is supposedly labeled "Battle on Takodana". I'm guessing that's the name of the snow planet.
Also, here's a new pic of Ken Leung (AKA the porcupine guy from X-Men: The Last Stand) in costume as a Resistance officer:

Off topic but... there's a line SJP has in Ed Wood asking "Do I really have a face like a horse?" I've always wondered was that her having fun with the joke, or is that where it started?

We're currently on the verge of a massive explosion of new info. With the merch expected to be on store shelves within 25 days all sorts of leaks are bound to happen. In fact, factory samples of figures of Kylo Ren and Finn are out in the wild.
We're officially in that window of time when "top secret" stuff is in the hands of poorly-paid warehouse and retail workers.
They are, however, wisely sitting on the novelization until the movie's release date.
