That was just the dumbest addition. How would they even know Vader and the Emperor were dead?

Seriously, I think Lucas was losing his mind. Not only did he give us the line from Luke to 3PO in ANH he also gave us a line In RotJ about receiving word from their spies that the Emperor was onboard the Death Star. If they had to receive the info from spies how was it common knowledge that not only he but Vader as well were on there?

Well it is cannon that the Rebels won and a New Republic was formed and the imperials signed a treaty ending the War. So it will be interesting to see how guys like Han Solo and Luke are forgotten because they won. If Al Qaeda won and the US signed a treaty I'm sure the main players from Al Qaeda would be remembered.

How is that cannon? Did I miss something? As far as I know nothing that happened after RotJ has been in the new comics. There is very little that is cannon other than the 6 movies, 2 cartoons and the recent comic book series at this point right?

Chuck Wendig's novel Aftermath is part of the new continuity. I haven't read it, but from what I've heard the galaxy is more fractured and there isn't a powerful New Republic the way there was in the old EU.

Lost Stars is a youth novel that covers a time period before A New Hope through the Battle of Jakku, which is a year or so after Return of the Jedi.

Each Han Solo clip seems to get better from the last. We went from "Chewie, we're home" to "it's all true" to a simple but badass "You're gonna need this" and him firing his blaster in the last clip.

Abrams on the First Order's new superweapon:

"It is very much — and it’s acknowledged as such in the movie — apparently another Death Star,” Abrams says.
Remember when this rumor came out last year and nobody believed it was true? I mean, they couldn't possibly be that unoriginal -- especially since recycling the first movie's climax was one of the major complaints fans had with RotJ. Well, there it is - straight from the horse's mouth: a THIRD fucking Death Star.

The "apparently" makes me doubtful that's what it is. He might as well say "Apparently, Benedict Cumberbatch is playing John Harrison."

Spoiler:
It most likely is, as the upcoming action figures have two oddballs included, Bespin Luke and Vader.
This is likely due to a flashback scene, or something like that.

A few more snippets of footage from UK Disney XD (including an alternate take of "Chewie, we're home."):

There's supposed to be some behind the scenes footage shown on Disney Channel tonight.

Bush and Obama have both made surprise visits to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for Thanksgiving and Christmas. All those trips were kept top secret and only a select few in the White House and military knew where the president was going. But if al Qaeda had somehow found out about it, attacked the base while the president was there and killed him, you don't think we would've known about it in a couple hours?

Does Hux seem too young to be a general? Especially since Leia is one, too?

Maybe one-star general vs five-star general?

not too weird. Even in our past we've had generals in their mid 20s.

Gleeson is 32. Weird now... not too weird based on history. just uncommon.

I think most of the First Order is going to be younger, except perhaps for the mastermind pulling all the strings. The younger generation has been 'brainwashed' into thinking the Empire were the good guys and the Alliance is evil.

Yeah, as much as the OT had a lot of Nazi symbolism, the First Order is going full Nazi.

They address that in Entertainment Weekly:

This galactic junta operates a little like the mafia. You kill your way to the top.

“You don’t get that high up in your life that quickly unless you’re pretty ruthless,” says Gleeson, who’s 32. “You have to put a few people down on the way to get there.”
The magazine also mentions the final edit was locked on November 3rd and has a running time of 135 minutes. All that's left are a few tweaks to the visual and sound effects, plus a final scoring session with Williams.

In the Star Wars universe they hand out the title "general" like little league participation trophies.

Now a 32 year old Grand Moff, that would be ridiculous.

I wonder if they'll poke fun at that ie ridicule it in some very small fashion.
