Although that doesn't really prove anything since the Academy could've been for guys like Piett and Ozzle while the Stormtroopers were still mass produced.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015, Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fisher

Our local theater had a crap selection of seats this morning for the 2D showings, so I had to go with shittastic 3D. Oh well, I'll go see a 2D showing by myself that weekend to make up for it.

I am pretty excited that both of my children will get to see a new Star Wars movie in theaters that has a high potential of not completely sucking.

Question: Is this a PC or Native 3D?

Somehow I totally overlooked that aspect, didn't even pay attention to what formats it had.

^ PC

The flags hanging up in that shot of Han, Rey, Finn and BB-8 approaching Maz Kanata's castle are easter eggs. Several of them are podracing flags from Episode I (including those for Anakin and Sebulba) and the one in the top center features the Mandalorian symbol.

Are the 70mm showings only on the IMAX domes? I have the 70mm showing on domes in Birmingham or Huntsville, then I have the "true" Imax screens showing just regular digital in Nashville or Buford, Ga. All are about the same distance for me. Which would be better, 70mm Imax dome or regular digital "true" Imax?

Wonder if an 8 hour drive would be worth it to see the Imax laser in Virginia.

Disney is only putting the film in 70mm in those IMAX theaters that don't have digital or laser capabilities.

Would you choose the 70mm dome experience over the digital on the "true" (big) Imax screen?

Are you talking about the Udvar Hazy one? If so it's pretty nice, not a dome. Saw Ghost Protocol there. But if you're talking an 8 hour drive I'd suggest staying the night, checking out the museum itself.

I can't say across the board, but I do know the 70mm showings in Branson, MO are on a regular IMAX screen and not a dome. That's where I saw Interstellar.

The clones were a Trojan Horse that allowed Palpatine to assert control over the Republic and eliminate the Jedi. Once that was accomplished, they were no longer necessary. It's clear by the time of the OT that the Stormtroopers are not clones, because none of them sound like Jango Fett when they talk (and you know Lucas would have changed the voices), and Han and Luke are able to pass as Stormtroopers despite not sounding like Jango Fett. Heck, Leia even comments on Luke's height, which surely would have been extra noticeable if all the Stormtroopers were clones.

In case this hasn't been posted...

The Star Wars Marathon Event is the ultimate fan experience. All seven movies. One epic journey. Guests will see each of the six previously released Star Wars episodes in digital 2D beginning with The Phantom Menace and concluding with the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 3D! Guests will also receive a lanyard featuring exclusive marathon art. Coming December 17.

* See below for list of participating theaters.

Regal Cinemas

Star Wars Saturdays: Each Saturday, from December 19 to January 9, at Regal theatres the first 500 guests who experience Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX will receive a collectable ticket featuring unique Star Wars: The Force Awakens art. New art will be revealed each week.

AMC Theatres

Star Wars Sundays: Each Sunday, from December 20 to January 10, guests who purchase a ticket to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX 3D will receive an AMC-exclusive Star Wars print from artist Dan Mumford. A new poster will be revealed each week.

Also, join the celebration at Walt Disney World as AMC Theatres and Disney Parks celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Opening Night Event will take place on December 17, where participants will be among the first to see the new film at AMC Disney Springs 24 and then celebrate together at a private after-hours party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Tickets are available online only at AMCtheatres.com/StarWarsWDW

Cinemark

Cinemark is giving fans the opportunity to receive a pair of exclusive RealD 3D Star Wars glasses. There are three ways guests can get these collectable glasses: By attending the Star Wars Marathon Event on December 17. By attending the first show of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Thursday 12/17 in Cinemark XD, or with the purchase of a Star Wars concession combo, coming in November.

Alamo Drafthouse

As part of the advanced ticketing promotion at participating Alamo Drafthouse locations, you can snag two exclusive, limited Star Wars: The Force Awakens collectible items: an officially licensed Mondo-designed pint glass and the first ever, double-sized collector’s issue of their very own magazine, BIRTH. MOVIES. DEATH., celebrating 40 years of the Star Wars saga!

El Capitan Theatre

The film will be presented in DOLBY VISION – a state-of-the-art laser projection system that delivers richer colors and distinctly brighter images while preserving deep and dark blacks. When combined with DOLBY ATMOS sound technology, which creates moving audio that surrounds you in three-dimensional space, the picture and sound will excite your senses and inspire your emotions with breathtaking realism.

Fans will also be immersed in an extensive display of costumes and props from the making of the movie and see an all-new laser lightsaber curtain show.

And on opening day one, pick up an exclusive collectible BB-8 button!

Fandango

On Fandango, Star Wars: The Force Awakens ticket buyers will be entered into a sweepstakes for the chance to win a trip to the film’s world premiere. Moviegoers who purchase tickets within the first 24 hours can increase their chances to win. Additionally, ten runners-up can win a collectible “Dark Side” or “Light Side” prize pack.

That marathon sounds awful. First you have to sit through all the prequels, then you have to watch the butchered OT. By the time the new movie starts, you're likely sick of sitting in your theater seat and won't be able to fully enjoy the experience.

If I go, will the other people there also be there to watch the movie, or will they be ADHD teenagers who can't stop taking selfies and talking and tweeting to each other 24/7? If it's like all the other movies (except the LOTR ones), then I'd like to avoid that.

And which theater will have the mass-killings at them? I'd like to avoid that as well.

Plus it's in 1-6 order. Which the only benefit to that is getting there when ANH starts.

Should have shown them in Machete order...(IV, V, II, III, VI)

Yea, Palpatine was very anti-clone, only using them for the Clone Wars because they could be controlled against the Jedi near the end.

There are no marathons in PA it seems. I don't understand why they don't do something like six weeks of Star Wars instead and feature a different movie every week. I'd never be able to sit through seven movies at a theater in a row.

I imagine a majority of the ticket holders will be skipping the three prequels.

I don't think the so called "Machete" order makes the prequels anymore tolerable personally. You still have to sit through the shitty Attack of the Clones and while Revenge of the Sith is the most tolerable of the three it still isn't that great.

This link shows the laser one to be at the Airbus Imax in Chantilly.

Yeah, I'd make a weekend out of it, check out DC too.

When are the new black series 6" action figures going to be in stores?

I already got the 3" TFA set with Rey, Finn, stormtrooper, BB-8, Kylo, Phasma from a store at WDW.
