Teasers for trailers are so annoying.

Do tickets go on sale at midnight tonight? My bro works next to a Cinemark, so I was going to ask him to pick them up tomorrow. I read somewhere that showtimes won't be posted until after the new trailer airs. If that's the case, I'll probably just buy online.

Monday evening, I believe 7pm PST. The trailer plays during halftime of the Monday game...which would likely be 6:30ish.. online + ticket sales shortly after.

My biggest fear is that Han/Leia/Luke will have no screen time with each other. Would fans riot if that were the case?

I'd like to see them all together but I won't be surprised if the bulk of the film is Han and possibly Leia together with Rey, Finn, and Poe.

Spoiler:
Han being in a scene with Luke depends on if the character lives through this film or not in my opinion. I think if they are reunited it may be brief. I'm sure Luke and Leia will have scenes together if not in this film in the sequels.

Is it just me or is something on 3PO's face? Lighting? New faceplate?

I see what you mean but I'm fairly certain it's just weird lighting.

I'm betting the shot with Poe and Finn is the first time they've seen each other since crashing on Jakuu... and Dameron looks like he wants his jacket back.

Yeah, I think it's just shadow/lighting/reflection combined with the character's small size on the images and the resolution of the jpgs.

It's weird, though, because in both of the images joe_b posted, it almost looks like he's wearing a Darth Vader mask on the lower half of his face. But the only change I've seen to C-3PO in any FA material is the red arm.

Oh man I can see that from the mind of George Lucas.

"With the new movies the maker becomes part of C-3PO. And he is overjoyed with this honor. It really helps tie all three trilogies together!"

I can't see them changing more than the arm. Making a change to his face would throw off a lot of people and would upset fanboys. Some are already upset over the red arm.

Looks like I'll be trying to get an IMAX ticket since they shot footage in it for the film.

A trailer for a trailer is stupidly postmodern beyond belief.

Well, they aren't making 15/70 prints anymore. Maybe it'll be a reason for some locations to install the laser systems. Wonder if there'll be any 35mm screenings ala Interstellar?

Yeah, well, I'm not a huge fan, but given some of the choices out there, he's preferable, I suppose. At least the bar is low.

I assumed that was what it was. That's what pretty much all posters are now.

With the look of that new super weapon, they might as well have called it Death Star III.
Apparently no one in the Star Wars universe has any sense of, you know, pattern recognition.

Michael Arndt still got a screenwriting credit.
Probably Writer's Guild rules.

Did Abrams pull a Nolan and make it available in various formats? Will theaters have it in various formats? I figure it's just IMAX or DCP for the most part.

Is there seriously a Death Star III in this?

Not that I was jerking it furiously to see this flick, but if there's srsly DS3 I'm officially out.

There's also a landscape version of the poster on the official site that in my opinion has better composition. Maybe this was the original version. Either way, it'll work better for desktop backgrounds:

Spoiler:
It is kind of an insult that they didn't use Struzan's artwork. I know he got paid, but the man confirmed he'd spent seven months working on different concepts for the movie poster. Why is Hollywood so opposed to traditionally illustrated one sheets? It really is a dying art.

You sure the new poster isn't traditionally painted? It almost looks like a Dave Dorman piece. He's an awesome painter and has painted Star Wars before.

Well there were rumors that:
Spoiler:
Princess Leia becomes something of a hypocrite and creates a super weapon.

Looks like its true.

Abrams apparently wanted it to get some releases on film since that's how he'd prefer it to be seen, but I doubt Disney is particularly enthusiastic about the idea. If we're lucky, they'll strike a handful of 35mm prints (a 70mm print is way too much to hope for), but I doubt it. I imagine it'll be DCPs and IMAX digital (Which has to also come off of a digital master, is it a different kind of DCP on LIEMAX and laser?). I doubt that they'll strike film prints, and if they do they probably won't get much attention.

Are all IMAX showings of this going to be 3D? I want to see it in a large format, but I don't want 3D.

If one of our world's super powers built a mega-atomic bomb, and an enemy went and disarmed it, you know the bomb-making country would get right back to work on an update on the same bomb.

At the same time, they'd likely hunt down artifacts that belonged to Hitler and let an emo guy dress up like him.
