John Boyega's obviously playing Lando's son.

Look who's sitting next to JJ: Harrison Ford. Abrams knows that Han Solo makes Star Wars cool, and that is why he needs to have a big role in Episode 7. Don't get me wrong, I love Luke Skywalker, but if you look at Empire Strikes Back, Han and Luke pretty much had equal time.

Daisy Ridley demo reel:

Me like. Ironic that they mention Star Wars in the first clip.

EDIT: Looks like her agency (I guess) already set the video to private. I suppose if your client lands a lead role in the new Star Wars movie, you don't need all of YouTube scrutinizing their bit parts on television.

Oh, well... here's another video of her singing "Moon River". The girl is multi-talented.

Yeah, like others, did not expect Max Von Sydow. Damn, and Andy Serkis too, this is nice. Love that pic of everyone on the couches.

Didn't Lucas pretty CGI R2D2 for Episode 2 & 3? I remember him flying around and doing stuff he couldn't do in the OT. Hopefully he will be that clunky R2 unit like he was in the OT for the ST.

I heard Obi-Wan had jungle fever and it's his.

bringing back Han, Luke and Leia.

And damn, Max Von Sydow. I'm amazed he's still working.

How many years after Jedi is this supposed to take place?

That picture is probably the main cast of the movie, and I'm sure they didn't have all the secondary characters there for the read-through. Maybe Lando has a secondary role, and he is only shooting for one or two days?

Or maybe JJ Abrams is still pissed that Lando sold out Han, Leia and Chewy to the bounty hunter on Cloud City, and this is his penalty!

It's a good bet that Daisy Ridley is playing Han and Leia's daughter...since she's sitting in between them during the read in the photo.

I like how JJ seems to be explaining a scene to Harrison and Harrison has that "like hell we're doing it that way" look on his face.

I bet the young actress between Ford and Fischer plays their daughter. The placement of the cast could be random but I think it may be significant to the characters.

So they only added one new girl? Is Daisy Ridley British?

So Max's the new Emperor? Will Andy only voice act?

I could see Domhnall Glesson being Luke's son...even though he's sitting next to Anthony Daniels

This looks like a pretty full slate of lead and supporting actors for a Star Wars movie, but you may be right. If Ridley is playing the Solo daughter (from her appearance, very likely) than who the hell were Lupita N'yongo and Maisie Richadson-Sellers being considered for? The trades described it as a lead role. Unless the part was unisex and they cast one of the dudes instead. Boyega, maybe?

I guess the open auditions that were held last fall proved fruitless... or (as many suspected) were just a publicity stunt. Daisy is the only actor in the annoucement who has not been seen in a lead role yet, but she's been acting professionally for over a year and has representation. It seems she even tweeted about the casting breakdown last June -- well before the cattle calls were announced:

casting breakdown for Star Wars is doing the rounds *please let me be seen for it, please let me be seen for it*

I kind of hope Luke doesn't have his own kids. He's spent his life rebuilding the Jedi order.

I'm not really blown away or surprised by the cast, more of a "oh, that's cool" for guys like Serkis or Von Sydow.

Glesson looks like a younger Ewan McGregor to me. Wonder if he could be an Obi Wan bastard.
