I sure as hell don't want to see Triple, H, The Rock or Vin Diesel trying to play Conan. Talk about completely screwing a movie.
No more Milius involvement is also a huge letdown.

without Arnold, and most importantly, without Milius, this is likely to be nothing more than a shadowy reflection of the original.

If Arnold is gone and Milius is gone, then I think the best course of action for Rodriguez (or whoever takes over) would be to just forget about the first two movies, and adapt one of the original Conan stories. "Hour of the Dragon" would be a good choice. In that one Conan is already the king of Aquilonia, but he gets his kingdom usurped by an evil undead sorcerer and he has to try to get it back. I think it would make for a good Conan movie.

While I appreciate some of what Rodriguez has done, the only ones who could do this movie right are Arnold, Milius, and Poledouris. I won't anticipate the movie at all without their involvement. (Arnold can get the ball rolling again by losing the next election...)

At the very least, I hope it is R-rated, with lots of blood and naked women.

Geesh, I think a re-imagining of the Conan character could be cool. Give Arnold a cameo flashback (in all likelyhood this is all he'll be available for), and move on with a new Conan.

I'm willing to bet that The Rock is on tap for the role, and I'm sure Rodriguez will do a bang up job on it. Just because Spy Kids and Sin City were CG, it doesn't mean that he would approach Conan like that. Robert is smart. Very smart. I'm sure he'll head back to his guerilla style filmmaking techniques from El Mariachi and Desperado for this one...and I'm sure it will be good. Give the guy some credit, he's got a vision as a filmmaker, and if anything, he is versatile - his body of work thus far has proven that.

You know, I'm a huge Arnold fan. Even big enough to vote for him in the recall election. But can he really cut it for an action film now a days? I mean, he isn't all that built like he used to be. So him without a shirt is something that will need a lot of touching up on to even look close to what Conan is. I wouldn't lose any sleep if someone else built for the role filled in.

The thing is that, as Milius wrote the character in his King Conan script, our favourite Barbarian was up there in years and not the quite the man he once was. It was written with Arnold in mind so his age is not an issue. And a while back there was talk that The Rock would have played Kon, the son of Conan. I was really looking forward to that.
