Empires of the Deep 3D trailer
Wow, I'm morbidly curious about this. Olga Kurylenko is smoking hot, but don't really know what to make of it. It's a 100 million flick, too.

No Jar-Jar? This looks like another SyFy TV movie.

Wasn't one of James Cameron's ideas for an Avatar sequel to have it take place under Pandora's oceans? Sounds like someone tried to beat him to the punch.

Wow.... huge flop for sure. Half of that looked like cut scenes from a video game. Over 130 million and 3 years work for this?

Snake will be upset that Monica Bellucci passed on this.

Re: Empires of the Deep 3D trailer
100mil?!? OMG that looks horribly bad.

Re: Empires of the Deep 3D trailer
I'd see it... :)

Re: Empires of the Deep 3D trailer
Those effects look terrible. Prometheus only cost $20-30 million more and looked worlds better.

Re: Empires of the Deep 3D trailer
If anyone was morbidly curious about seeing this four years ago, which was nearly six years after production began, you may be even moreso after reading this fascinating autopsy on the whole sordid affair. Essential reading for those easily absorbed by the hubristic follies of the nouveau riche (Chinese in this case) and anyone who thinks that "the Chinese way" (Mainland variant) of making movies -- or doing business, for that matter -- is really compatible with Hollywood and the west. Put the kettle on; it's a long one.
SUNK How a Chinese billionaire’s dream of making an underwater fantasy blockbuster turned into a legendary movie fiasco. Of interest: nearly everything detailed within this piece happened before that original -- and broadly derided -- trailer debuted online. Four years on and the film has been relabeled as "announced" on its IMDb listing. Clearly mainlander real estate mogul Jon Jiang, a wannabe player who should never have dabbled in things he knew nothing about, just won't let this thing die. |

Thanks for posting that. They should have tracked Olga down for her take on things. I'm hoping she got her million. |
