So, throw out some interesting movie titles.

I always liked the titles to 60's horror movies.

As opposed to what time period?

Generally, elaborate titles like "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" don't equal box office gold.

A buddy & I used to have a running joke that if a movie had more than two words in the title, it was likely a chick flick.

It doesn't get any better than "To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar".

Re: Are movie titles getting less interesting? No.

It's usually the horror flicks that have the more exciting titles:

Play Misty for Me

The Last House on the Left

I Spit on Your Grave

They USED to be more exciting. Look at what we have now. Insidious. Sinister (which I just watched and LOVED). Paranormal Activity. The Conjuring. The Collector. zzzzzzz

Compare that to He Knows You're Alone, Don't Go in the House, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Night of the Living Dead. The Hills Have Eyes. Night Train Murders. Any of the Italian gialli. Now I'm not saying all these movies are better (some are absolute shit), but at least they came up with good TITLES!

Re: Are movie titles getting less interesting? No.

Frozen is still #2 in the country yet it seems more difficult each week to find showings. I am guessing what showings they have must get a good sized crowd.

The Ghost and the Darkness is still one of my favourite movie titles ever. Very evocative.

It's pretty hard to infer anything incorrect about the movie from its title. You know damn well what you're getting.
