Weren't the Pooh books already in wide circulation and didn't they have illustrations?

I'm with Hokeyboy on enjoying this. The only negative I had was with the film score. Too bland and too contemporary (Especially for the flashback scenes) Thank god for all the instrumental renditions from the Poppins soundtrack that was put to use.

Hanks' performance as Walt was actually the biggest surprise to me. I swear I was hearing Walt, not Tom, giving that Missouri speech. Cute touches in the script by having Walt's trademark "And things"-line making appearances too.

And kudos to the casting for my putting my favorite Snow White (From Disneyland) for the premier scene

Saw it. Overall, I enjoyed it. I agree with all of the criticisms, though my parents loved it. I understand how this is under performing , as it really isn't a movie for the whole family. In fact, a mother who attended with her young kids left about twenty minutes in as she realized it was about Mary Poppins and not a Mary Poppins movie.

Thompson was great as always and Hanks sold me on his portrayal of Disney. I loved the bit where he recounted his childhood, very fine acting.

^There were a few little kids at my viewing too but they were well-behaved. Pretty good crowd overall....It's just that I felt a little out-of-place for being the only person who laughed outloud when Travers questioned the "EXT" on the script-reading.

Yes, and yes. We read the books in school. Can't even begin to remember what the illustrations looked like. However, sometime before the Disney Pooh was released the preconcieved image we had of Pooh matched the Disney cartoon. It's possible animators copied the style of the book illustrations, or Disney had Pooh stuff out there beforehand.

I remember Pooh books being in the house before the first Pooh movie and the book illustrations being the models for the animation designs.

Do you mean Disney "Winnie the Pooh" books being in your house before the first "WTP" movie?

No, the actual Winnie the Pooh books by A.A. Milne that the Disney animation was based on.

Re: Saving Mr. Banks (2013) (Tom Hanks as Walt Disney)

My wife and I saw the movie on Thursday and we loved it.

The theater was full and atleast 50% of the crowd was over 50 years old, everyone gave the movie a very positive reaction.

Acting was fantasic.

My daughter and I are very close, we have had tons of fun growing up, so I could relate to the father throughout the movie which pulled emotions out of me.

Best "Academy Award" type movie I have seen all year, I would give it best picture right now. Had the same feeling when I left "Silver Lining Playbook".

Did you have to help them keep up with the story?
