It is not the Academy 6. It's a theater that used to be a Bridge to great cinema experience, but now its prospects are looking rather gRave, if you catch my meaning.

Seriously, why didn't the prisoner have any lines or interaction with Dredd and Anderson for like 20 minutes?

The right to remain silent?
Spoiler:
Then Anderson was able to read his mind, so what would he have said?

Seeing it tonight with some friends. 2D showing - they reduced the 3D showings, so screw it. As now, we're the only 4 in the theater. :-/

I mean not just conversation but not even a peep. He didn't even react when he was getting shot at. I dunno maybe he was still on those drugs.

Bit I still gotta convince more people to see it...

He looked stoned pretty much throughout until he actually started to flow. I get what you're saying, but it's minor, IMO.

Well, there were about 20 people. Everyone showed up at the last second, so that was cool. The company I was with enjoyed it, too.

Try not to spend money there if you can help it. Companies like that will be the death of quality theatrical experiences.

Bargain bin digital projectors that get NO maintenance or calibration. Staffing one person per concession stand on Friday nights. All sorts of cost-cutting measures that mean more money saved for the company and less service and quality for the customer.

Re: Dredd 3D (Travis, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

Gotcha, I always noticed the lack of concession people working at those places, and really hate the layout of the thing, reminds me of a shitty place for children's birthday parties. The Digital Projection there is usually slightly lower quality than other theaters in the area, but not bad. However, I only go there maybe once a year when home visiting family.

Where I live we have a couple first run and "classic" Draft Houses that feel like they're from the 1950s (saw Shutter Island there, was oddly appropriate), and then AMC, Regals and Cinemarks. The other guy hasn't poked his head in yet.

Yeah, I don't go there as often as I used to except for IMAX showings and this Sinister showing. When they were Cinema De Lux, that was the shit right there. I do like there restaurant/lounge, because the food is actually really good and they have Arrogant Bastard on tap. I hear ya on the concessions, though.

Re: Dredd 3D (Travis, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

Saw Dredd 3D again today. Saw it yesterday on College Thursday, $3.50. Today for the 4:40 showing it was $9.50...ooof. For me that's high, not IMAX high but high. I didn't care. This film deserved it. Only 7 people including my friend. I'm actually amazed she chose this over Looper or End of Watch, which were the other films I also was game for. She dug the trailer so happily I was to see it again.

Goddamn is this film so cool. I actually want to get the soundtrack to it. Fucking great music. I'm not comparing it to this film but...this is my Drive. It's everything I want, it surprises, great music, unique look, very much in a genre field, just everything. I'm actually getting this on 3D BD first. Not even Prometheus, Hugo, or Avatar were able to do that. Dredd sure as hell did for me. It's soooooo much fun.

BTW, if anyone knows the name or artist of the song that's playing in the apartment during the Dredd/Anderson raid PLEASE let me know. It's not on the actual score. It's a real fast trance song - they emphasize it when the two junkies take a hit off of the slo-mo - the volume fluctuates.

When it was the Cinema De Lux it was a theater I was proud to work at. I'm still proud of our IMAX projection, which is one of the best in the world, but they keep talking about converting it to digital. Idiots run that company.

Re: Dredd 3D (Travis, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

Just got back from seeing it and loved every second. I was one of the few people who seemed to be unimpressed with the Raid (Just did not live up to the hype at all for me), and found this movie to be the real deal. I was told a lot about the movie whilst it was in production from two high school buddies who worked on the movie (Stunt Men - one being Karl Urbans stunt double), and they told me it was gonna be something special. I could not agree more. Loved the cinematography, the score, the acting, the action. Just wish it would get sequels....but doubt it will "judging" by the box office. A real shame.

Yea I downloaded the soundtrack earlier this week and have been listening to it nonstop ever since. I just love pulsing electro scores like this!

The rejected score by Geoff Barrow & Ben Salisbury is excellent too & is available from Amazon under the title 'DROKK' Music inspired by Mega-City 1. Sounds like something right out of an 80's Carpenter movie...

You ain't kidding:

Now I need to get both this album and the actual score.
