Going to a Screening Tomorrow... Which Movie??

So the wife and I are going to a free preview screening tomorrow night. They didn't tell us the name of the movie so now we're trying to figure out what it is based on what's coming out between now and December.

Clues:

3D "Epic"

Adventure and Drama

Age Range - 12 to 16 & 21 to 54

Not rated yet but could be PG-13.

I couldn't be lucky enough to score a screening of The Hobbit, could I? Last time we got The Three Stooges four months before it came out.

Any other (more practical) guesses?

Not sure, but I'm curious what movie would not be palatable to 17-20 year olds.

Sounds like The Hobbit or Wreck It Ralph.

I'll place money right now it's Life of Pi.

Is that a sequel to Darren Aronofsky's Pi (1998)?

That would be worth seeing. So this movie is for 12 to 16 year olds, and 21 - 54 year olds. But definitely not for people 18 - 20.

I'd go with Life of Pi as well.

I'd be more interested if it said "R Rated, over 2 hours long (heh), non-3d epic" as that would probably be Cloud Atlas and I'm curious to hear how that one turned out.

Re: Going to a Screening Tomorrow... Which Movie??

Sorry. This is birthday week so I've been busy.

They sent this preview out to everyone and their mother and even tho we showed up 2 hours before showtime, the line was wrapped around the building. Everyone was under the assumption that it would be The Hobbit (which is why they showed up). We all signed a pretty extensive NDA but even then, they didn't tell us what the movie would be.

As we made our way into the theater, they realized that everyone who arrived (and still arriving) wouldn't fit. So they did Marketing 101 and pulled the people they were looking for out of the long line. 20-somethings. Young couples. A few older folks. No one with kids. No one younger than 22ish. Needless to say, we weren't picked.

A limo pulled up and two execs came out with a big bag from Gelsons. When they entered the theater, the Chosen Few were ushered in and we were told there was no more room. They gave us tickets to see another movie that night so we picked Brave (which started at 7:20).

Brave ended around 9:10 and when we got out, the preview audience was exiting. So the movie had to be around 90 minutes. I'm guessing it wasn't The Hobbit unless Peter Jackson decided to edit it way down to fill 3 movies. As we were refilling our sodas, the two execs came out of the theater and ran upstairs to discuss the film. We weren't allowed up there even tho that's where the restrooms were.

I overheard one person say "he cried at the end" as he exited.

That was that. Big nothing.

I wouldn't have even bothered showing up if that was the movie.

Would Iron Man 3 even be anywhere close to being done with post-production at this point?

Whatever they didn't shoot yet, they showed comic book panels to replicate the scenes.

Also, Sean Connery has a cameo as the King of England.

I doubt it was Hobbit if they didn't want anyone under 22.

Re: Going to a Screening Tomorrow... Which Movie??

Something like The Hobbit doesn't need test screenings. I doubt it gets tested to the public.

Looking around online - it was probably something like Resident Evil 5. Or maybe Silent Hill 2.

Also, I attempted to go to a few test screenings before. But I never got selected and just ended up with a free pass (whoopidoo ... I'd drive across town and spend a couple hours waiting).
