Re: Actors You Hate Giving Good Performances

Actors I can give a pass to, but writers are different story. I hate Diablo Cody's writing, but LOVED Young Adult. If she can keep it up and do more like that then I will be a fan.

Also in Royal Tenenbaums.

I can't stand Reese Witherspoon, but I liked her in Cruel Intentions.

Mark Wahlberg....he's no thug but he's a bit of a tool and horribly arrogant. Having said that his Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights was exceptional.

Re: Actors You Hate Giving Good Performances

When I saw this thread the first name that came to mind was Tom Arnold. I loath him and the fact he married Rosanne Barr really shows the kind of person he is but if ever there was a man for a role and a role for a man then Tom Arnold in True Lies were made for each other. I actually REALLY enjoyed him in that film.

The quality of Reese's work went downhill after Legally Blonde. She started playing it safe. Her earlier work--Pleasantville, Election--is really good. My favorite Reese performance is from Freeway.

I can't say I hate any actor but from those that I just don't think are or were good at that point:

Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street
Marlon Wayans in Requiem for a Dream
Also liked her playing herself in Oceans 12 for some odd reason. But yeah she was well cast in Closer, just for the lines she had to deliver... had to rewatch that scene on youtube, probably the best closing line to an argument "That's the spirit, thank you, thank you for your honesty, now fuck off and die, you fucked up slag."

Yeah. Really love that scene. It's kind of a bold role for her. Just love that movie.

What? I thought she was cute as hell in The Avengers, she was fine in the IM films. Also...Royal Tenenbaums and Contagion as some have stated.

And I thought The Gift was only known for having Katie Holmes' boobs in it....

Paul Walker in 'Running Scared'... finally a movie he's not wearing chuck taylor's in and saying 'sup?!', every other scene.

Re: Actors You Hate Giving Good Performances

Nicholas Cage in 'The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans', that was because of Herzog though.

He just sounds so snooty in everything he did after, 'The Rock'.

This fucking asshole in Kindergarten used to cut in line in front of me for the slide but I have to admit, he made a fantastic Joseph in our Christmas play.

Re: Actors You Hate Giving Good Performances

Add another vote for Channing Tatum in 21 Jump street...

Also Dane Cook in Waiting was hilarious and I think he is about the most overrated comedian in history
