Remember this quote in ten years time when you're claiming that TDKR is one of the best films ever.:lol::lol:

seems like an adequate comparison. Both are trilogies and shouldn't be refrained from comparison, subject matter is irrelevance.

This is the legacy of the prequels.

The Black Knight should've been in this poll; then it might have been interesting.

(And does anyone else pronounce "The Dark Knight" as "The Dark Kanigit" or is it just me?)

I didn't say it was better, I said it would make for more interesting poll results. And why SHOULDN'T we comapare them? They're both good movies. It's not like Jesus directed the Godfather films...they have flaws too. Just because Star Wars is mainstream sci-fi, it can't be compared? THAT'S insane.

well, i'm in the boat that liked Star Wars a wee bit more than ESB and base judgement on replayability and SW has it and ESB not as much. i'm not saying ESB isn't the superior movie i just base on many factors.

I replay ANH more than ESB as well, but that is irrelevant to your poll. ESB over TDK and it's not even close to me.

well, if i were to watch something right now i would rather pop in TDK then ESB. i just don't find ESB as fascinating now as i once did when i was little.

the more i see TDK, the more i enjoy, though i do like BB better.

so overall, right now, while ESB may be the better movie over TDK, i would rather watch TDK for many reasons and ESB not so much based on same reasons.

i think main reason is i couldn't watch ESB as a standalone movie and would have to watch whole trilogy while i think TDK stands better as its own movie and not so much as part of trilogy which to my understanding was the point of the first two in the Nolan series.

I'll go with ESB. I hate polls like this when you love both movies.

Easily TDK. Not a Star Wars fan, at all.

Yes if you suffer from jaw spasms.

Oh and easily Empire, i dont care about Batman to be honest even if i had convinced myself somehow from internet group think.

As much as I love TDK, this is a no brainier. Empire all the way.

Is that any surprise? This forum's main demographic is old people who were actually alive when Star Wars came out or grew up with it who are voting out of nostalgia.

Give it 10-15 years.

Or you know, because they prefer it to TDK.

Yeah, you said the exact same thing I did. Preferences are often (always) influenced by emotion, and thus the shittiest children's movie can be seen as a better movie than an award-winner because someone "grew up with it".

Re: The Dark Knight or The Empire Strikes Back?

In terms of taking the first film and running with it - ratcheting up the complexity and themes...both undeniably successful... along with Godfather pt2 some of the best sequels ever.

The difference for me is that BB was nearly perfect...I enjoyed the structure, tone and look of it more than the TDK. Empire took SW in a direction I preferred. Both fantastic films that I'll continue to enjoy for years.

In 10-15 years Empire will still be beloved. Will TDK be more loved then than it is now? Perhaps. But it's not like people are going to turn around and say "Wait a minute, this well made, highly regarded film is terrible! It was purely nostalgia that blinded me!"

I could be wrong, but I feel like generally the older crowd on this site will pretty much all vote for Empire Strikes Back while the younger group will vote for TDK.

Personally, I saw Empire Strikes Back for the first time this year (entire original Star Wars trilogy actually). While I loved this movie (gave it 9/10), The Dark Knight is arguably my favorite movie of all time and doesn't get old for me.

Either way, both go down in history as two of the greatest, most monumental films of all time in my opinion.

And you have the nerve in the TDKR review thread to call someone else a troll?

Pot, meet kettle.

The truth isn't trolling. Geriatrics love ESB. It's not like that's a fucking secret.

I'm not sure which is worse, your profound arrogance or your monumental stupidity. Welcome to ignore.
