I thought they progressively got better. Batman was always challenged, moreso with each movie. Oh well, I guess I actually like movies and don't over-analyze them to death like so many here.

movie is bullshit!

As much as people hated it, I loved it when Selina blasted Bane to death with the Batpod's cannons (although I thought Batman's second fight against Bane was pure shit).

But then I also liked that the newspaper headlines referred to her as "The Cat" (the character's original name in the comics) instead of Catwoman.

i don't know it was kind of a bullshit way for him to go out especially since Batman was whooping his ass right before that bitch stabbed him

and that fight wasn't pure shit, its awesome when Bane goes into full rage mode when his mask is coming apart, starts smashin tha pillar + the music and the drums

Well at that point Batman had his "no killing" rule so he'd never off Bane. And he already whooped Bane's ass so a third round would have been redundant.

I just hate that Batman never fought smarter against Bane. I mean all he really did was keep swinging until he managed to get a lucky hit against one of the mask tubes. You figure after the "power punch for power punch" approach worked so NOT well in their first encounter, he'd at least try a Batarang or those knockout darts he used when he rescued Gordon the night before. Instead he just traded shots with Bane and absorbed plenty of hits he could have at least dodged.

About the only smart thing Batman did was turn off the lights during his first fight with Bane. Sure it didn't work out as planned but it was a hell of a lot better than when he threw some smoke pellets and just stood there waiting for Bane to come at him (which is the only part I hate about their first fight). But then Bane seems to have a magical ability to make people retarded at close quarters. Which is why the two or three cops that fight Bane charge him instead of shoot him.

I still love the setup for the fight though. Mostly because it bares a striking resemblance to a beloved favorite flick of mine (Ironically, another WB film as well)

Wow. Never even noticed how awful some of those background extras are in DKR  Check out the guys on the right side.

That's because 95% of them are non-paid/no experience extras. Next time you're watching the football scene, put it on pause and count the people in short-sleeved shirts - that's because it was about 90 degrees the day that was shot, and Nolan was too lazy to take time to CGI out all the people too hot to put their jackets on. :)

You can't pause a movie at the theaters.

That scene was shot outside of my office. I remember watching it and thinking, " they are going to have to do a lot of work to make this look good."

It isn't like it's something that's really obvious unless you're really looking for it though.

What I always wonder about the football scene is Bane shows up & blows the bridges and tells people to return to their homes. Pretty sure a good amount of people at the game came into the city to see the game. Now they are stranded and have no home to go to. Bane's an ass.

Bane's favorite author is Thomas Wolfe? ("You Can't Go Home Again")

But you're right, many will have no home to go to except a vacant hotel room or breaking into houses (as shown).

Now that I have finally seen all 3 films this is how I rank them :

1. The Dark Knight
2. The Dark Knight Rises
3. Batman Begins

RocShemp 06-09-14 10:18 PM

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

To me they rank exactly in the order released:

1. Batman Begins
2. The Dark Knight
3. The Dark Knight Rises

I enjoy all three but each is progressively inferior to the film that came before.

Supermallet 06-09-14 11:42 PM

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
Batman Returns

The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight Rises

1. Batman Begins
2. TDK
3. TDKR

All 3 are great films that I enjoyed but Begins is the only one that tells the true Bruce Wayne/Batman story. That's why i enjoyed it the most out of the 3.

And saying a movie is worse than some hair band cover band is troll territory.

I bet even Kip Winger would have tried to kick Bane at least once if he had a brace on his leg that let him kick through rock.

Not sure if Winger would have waited until they got 3000 feet into the air to take the hoods off or done the smart thing and pull them off when they first showed up.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

Rises is the weakest, but far from a poor film. With passing years and repeat viewings, Batman Begins went back to the top of my list.
