I think a lot of people are in this boat.

People are throwing around the word fanboy way too much lately.

Just because people have issues with Rises doesn't mean they've "turned" on Nolan. That seems pretty silly to me. Outside of a couple people that come out of the woodwork to hate everything Nolan does, a lot of people voicing some complaints enjoyed the film, they (like myself) are just pointing out that it felt like there were more problems then The Dark Knight. That's pretty typical given how that movie had so much hype and was so well received, that Rises couldn't possibly live up to it.

Calling negative replies and comments the result of fanboyism is funny, given that you can also apply it to people that are trying to come up with explanations for anything and everything to rationalize some of the events in the movie.

It's automatically bitching if you don't want to fellate Nolan right after. I was dissapointed with the movie but it's alright. It's the worst of the three Nolan Batman movies and may be Nolan's worst movie in general(haven't seen Following) but if this is his worst, that's a hell of a lot better than many directors' best.

I guess the fact that you can't see your own fanboyism makes it impossible and therefore pointless to try to discuss with you.

Fanboy = "Anybody who disagrees with me". From both the supporters and detractors. This is turning into IMDB real fast.

Well let's see, I gave TDKR 4.5 out of 5, but I also gave the same exact rating to The Avengers... and I can't figure out which one I loved more... and thought Amazing Spider-Man was good but nothing that great, and... and...

I didn't hate the movie, but I didn't love it, either. It was good, and a fun "superhero" movie, but it did have many flaws, and they aren't simply because I am too stupid to grasp the brilliance that is Christopher Nolan.

I suppose some of my comments about the flaws are just a way for me to clarify, if for no one other than myself, why the movie didn't move me the way it did some other people. The flaws got in the way too often, and took me out of the story too many times.

I will never make the utterly ridiculous claim that someone who disagrees with me is stupid. I will, however, call someone else a fanboy when they do make such ridiculous statements. But if the word "fanboy" troubles you, would "unreasoning ideologue" be better?

That is completely inaccurate. "Knives through suits" and Bat autopilot aside, I think many of the complaints have been about the pacing, the characters and the plot.

And believe me, I paid attention. I wanted to love the shit out of that movie. Instead for me, it landed squarely on "okay" - not bad, not great. But hey, maybe I'm too stupid to realize a Batman movie without much Batman is the best thing ever.

No, he's the one that wears those thickish, black framed glasses and scoffs instead of laughing when you tickle him.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

Finally got to see this movie Yesterday
It was AWESOMEEEE even though by reading most of the Batman threads here i kinda knew how things were gonna pan out it was still a pleasure seeing it in the big screen. Ms Michael Jackson did pretty awesome and really like her character. I liked that in this one they focus more on Bruce Wayne the man than Batman the symbol. I'm probably gonna have to see it again when it comes out on blu-ray with subtitles cause I was only able to understand 5% of what Bane was saying but then again I do have listening problems

Depending on the poster, you are now regarded as either 25% Fanboy or 75% Fanboy.
