Re: How movie theaters should be laid out
Older people are not always quiet and respectful. That's a big ol' myth. I've told my a older people to please be quiet as they were explaining the plot to their partner/friend/whatever. Two times I've heard the response..."Is it okay if I laugh?" sarcastically. I've said "Yes, it is okay to laugh, I just don't want to hear you talking." So, older people always being quiet and respectful is a crock of shit. Older people can be just as obnoxious as un-older people.

Make the dome super tinted on the back side, so regular folk can't see what's going on in there.

Replace headphone jacks in the original concept with USB connections. I'd rock my 7.1 Logitech headset in a movie theater if it allows me to ignore the trash around me.

That guy believes that old people are the best? How about the time I was going to see Moonrise Kingdom, about to sit down and some old lady grabbed my by my shirt from behind and demanded I sit somewhere else for fear of blocking her view?
Me: "Okay, but you don't have to grab me."
Her: "uhhh oh aaaaah."
Or the old woman who walked up to me and demanded a refund because The Notebook was not about a "notebook" but was actually about "young people."
Both at the same theater, latter time I was a customer, former as a worker.

Yeah old people can suck. Even when I go to movies with my 64 year old father, he will occasionally ask me what was just said. I make sure to put a seat between us to discourage this, but it may just encourage him to ask louder, making it harder to ignore him.

I Want To Go To There!
IMO old people can be just as bad as teenagers but they dont usually mean to be, while teenagers are just assholes!
Since we are sharing old people stories i think i should chime in since i live in Clearwater, Fl (old people capital of the world).
My favorite is pretty recent, i was seeing The Artist and i was the only non-grey in the theater. When it started the old guy next to me screamed out "they need to turn up the volume"!
And apparently my old people suck, i have never once been offered candy! The best i have ever gotten was this creepy old guy who had to sit next to me kept asking if I wanted to share his popcorn!

Re: How movie theaters should be laid out
My favorite "old people at the movie theater" remark was when I went to see Antonioni's The Passenger back when it was re-released in 2006 (or sometime around then).
The film had been unavailable for decades. I'd read about if for years but never seen it. I'm so stoked to finnaly see this great film. And the first time Jack Nicholson walks on to the screen the old lady behind me says to the old lady next to her, "He looks so young. How did they do that?" and the other lady had to explain that this was an old movie.
I laughed but I was so annoyed too. It was like pearls before swine. I've waited years to see this movie, lady. I thought I'd never get to see it on the big screen. You come wandering in here and you don't have a clue what you're seeing!
