Started watching this earlier. Turns out it's a musical. Something they did not show in the trailer. And didn't notice that on Rotten Tomatoes either. The two songs I heard (so far) were pretty bad. Animation is great though. Not sure I want to finish it now. Not a huge fan of musicals.

Calling this a musical is a stretch, unless you think most Disney cartoons are musicals. We really enjoyed it, very well done and the stop-motion is sublime. Some very Del Toro looking characters (almost a Pan's Labyrinth lite), could be a little unsettling for smaller kids (and the war stuff get's a little heavy). Like the running gags with Ewan's Cricket and the payoff in the credits.

My god, this was great. I’m a big fan of stop motion and Del Toro and this blows most of the awful Disney live action remakes of the last few years out of the water. Pinocchio was funny and more than a little freaky and despite what a poster above thought it’s not a musical, really.

I loved that the story went in so many different directions than I expected and the ending was beautifully sad. This really must win the best animated Oscar this year.

It was really wonderful. I am a little choked up right now. So we'll made and sweet.

It makes me happy Del Toro made a better movie than Disney did

I hope this gets a Blu-ray or 4K disc release
