You should just buy the Ben Hur DVD. The movie is old, but not dated. It's as modern and enjoyable as, say, Gladiator. That's supposed to be a positive comment.

Captain Blood (1935)
Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
How Green was my Valley (1941)
Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Any of the major Hammer films, especially Plague of the Zombies or The Mummy's Shroud
Freejack (1992) - Yes, pretty poor film but extraordinary visuals.

To piss people off:
I would love to see these films in Cinerama:
Hell, I'd even take a 70mm print. If we're talking about 70mm, I'd also love to see Baraka and Hamlet in 70mm.
- While not 70mm like how Giles saw it, I saw a blown-up 35mm print of Alien: The Director's Cut in an IMAX auditorium. It was amazing.
- I saw Speed Racer twice in 70mm IMAX and a third in DLP. One of the rare times I preferred the digital presentation over the IMAX presentation.
- I saw restored 35mm prints of the entire Indiana Jones trilogy shortly before the release of the fourth one.
- I saw The Dark Knight twice in 70mm IMAX. The IMAX presentation blew both the 35mm and DLP presentations out of the water.
I would love to see these films in Cinerama:
- This is Cinerama
- How the West Was Won
- It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World
- Grand Prix
- 2001: A Space Odyssey
- Ice Station Cebra
