Re: The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015, Whedon)
I know part of the plot of Iron Man 3 was Tony's PTSD was making him create all these new armors, but I thought he quit that by the end.
He didn't have 40 armors in IM 3. It was only about a dozen or so. Plus, he supposedly quit with this rapid manufacturing at the end of the movie.

He did have numbers for them though from what his last prototype was called. So 43 isn't amazing. IM3 had 42, after New York he went proactive and a bit fearsome.. so he just had a bunch of suits made. It isn't that odd to think he'd have that many. 42 was his last one in IM3. AoU gets us 43. Makes sense.

Is there anybody else out there who can't get enough of this shot?

Detailed look at Iron Man's new armor.
Spoiler for size
So this is Mark XLIII armor. I am not great with Roman numerals, but that would be Mark 43, right? Subtract 10 from 50 and add 3. I believe Mark 63 would be LXIII.
So basically Tony has gone through 43 revisions of the armor since the first Iron Man movie?

Plus, as mentioned before, I just find it funny that he has gone through 43 in so little time. The MCU isn't "real-time" so only about 2 years or so have actually passed since Tony built his first armor in that cave. He has gone through 43 different armors since then in only 2 years. With 52 weeks in a year, that is 104 weeks. 43 armors in 104 weeks is about one every other week. That is what I find funny, that he has gone through that at a rate of one every other week.

Feige has talked about timelines. In context of time, It seems like unless a film notifies us on the passage of time, it seems like Feige kind of wants the MCU to "age" w/ a normal passage of time. I'm reading a bunch of stuff and it's a jumbled up from what links I found. I'll have to clean it up later if possible.
But one mention from Feige that seems consistent is that there is a passage of time worth noting. 2 years have passed since Thor 1 to Thor 2 from a line that Jane says. I think I remember her saying that it was 2 years since she saw him. Unless noted in some form in the medium, I don't mind them going through a real world passage of time. Makes it very interesting as a string of narratives.

Also, I think the MCU "real-time" aging might be thrown out the window with Infinity War since it is a two-part movie. It's possible an actual year could pass between parts 1 and 2, but I doubt it.

That's not what I was talking about. In real-time there is a year between parts 1 and 2. However, does a year actually pass in the actual MCU timeline?
Another example: Star Wars Episode II was released in real time 3 years after Episode I. However, in the actual Star Wars universe timeline, there was a 10 year difference between Episodes I and II.

Either that or Scarlet Witch said, "No more arrow." What she was actually trying to do was to say, "No more Arrow" with a capital A to get rid of the DC competition (Green Arrow TV series).
Also, very recent comic spoilers

Actually I'm fairly certain that he did have forty-two armors in Iron Man 3. We didn't see them all up close but at the end of the film when Tony told Jarvis to initiate the House Party Protocol the Iron Legion of armors showed up. That was honestly one of the biggest disappointments about that film to me. The previews made it seem like the various armors would have a somewhat larger role in the film but really it was mostly the Mark XLII and the Iron Patriot that we saw in action. There were a couple of other armors that Tony used briefly or that we saw during the end battle but overall they really weren't focused on much.
