Curious as to how the masses will react to ZDT upon wide release. All the promos I saw during Saturday's NBA telecasts were 100% about the raid on Bin Laden's compound, which only amounts to the last 30 minutes of the almost-three hour film. Anyone expecting an Act of Valor-like action flick will be hugely disappointed. (Although that last 30 minutes is breathtaking.)
And having seen Hurt Locker (which I thought was just OK) and now ZDT, I don't think the comparisons are fair. This film is far more cerebral, far better shot, far grander in scale, and ultimately an all-around technically better and more thought provoking movie. Apples and oranges, IMO.

Caught this at the Arclight last weekend and loved it. Bigelow and Chastain are locks for Oscar noms, but I'm also pulling for noms for Jason Clarke (as "Dan"...showed more range than Chastain, IMO) and cinematographer Creig Fraser. Great supporting cast, too. (Loved Mark Strong and Kyle Chandler in their roles.)

It took me a couple nights to finish it, but damn was it great.

I also did not enjoy The Hurt Locker all that much. However, I saw this yesterday and it is fantastic. Don't let your feelings about Hurt Locker prevent you from seeing this one, it is a much better film.

I have a feeling this is a better movie, I am thinking the fact that Hurt Locker won will prevent Bigelow and this movie from winning this time. Basically, the lesser movie won, so the greater movie can't.

Roger Ebert gives it three stars. It's an incredibly ballsy review.

Seeing it tonight. I was enthralled with The Hurt Locker, so I have high hopes for this one.

Even though I plan on seeing Les Mis eventually, this is the last 2012 movie I'm going to see before putting together my final best of list for the year.

Well, the show was sold out so I saw Silver Linings Playbook instead. I'll try to catch Zero Dark Thirty in a few days.

Sure Bigelow and Chastain deserve the Oscar talk they are getting but I hope Bert Macklin does not get overlooked.

Bigelow in bed with the CIA? Ok, maybe I am exaggerating.
Senators to investigate contact between CIA and Filmmakers via Rolling Stone

So it has legitimate details that we were never told?
Without the investigation, I would have believed the movie is mostly an educated guess.

Yeah there has been some backlash..saw a few things about claiming zero dark thirty glorifies torture.
Also backlash on the CIA providing certain information to the film makers:
