This one looks like it might finally have good villains/henchmen again. I have not liked any of them since Goldeneye.

Not the best edit... but still interesting:

The only of the modern films I didn't like was the second Craig one and that was because of the sloppy action directing.

Interesting imagery. I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets a Live and Let Die vibe.
[clothes nerd]I also like the white dinner jacket w/cummerbund & carnation. As far as I can recall, we haven't seen Bond sport that look since the Roger Moore era. The jacket really should have a shawl collar though. I'm not feeling the peak lapels at all.[/clothes nerd]

At least he is carrying a Walther PPK with silencer. I love that.

No. There's a scene in Mexico around Dia de los Muertos. It's not Voodoo related.

Current Bond author on Elba ever being a Bond,
via daily mail, 8/29/15:
Apparently, aside from his possible alluding to race, that guy doesn't know what a good actor can do when he's a good actor.
The guy got bitched at on Twitter and the whatnot. Quickly apologized too.
Heh. He did mention he thought there were other black actors that could do Bond better but his wording wasn't smart in describing why Elba isn't right for him. I still think, current importance on Bond history or not, Elba would rock as Bond. The guy has a great voice and is a solid actor.
via daily mail, 8/29/15:
Neither is Horowitz (Bond author) impressed with the favourite to take over from Daniel Craig.
‘Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better.’
He names Adrian Lester, star of Hustle.
‘For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too “street” for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.’
Horowitz can be this frank because the films are owned by Eon Productions and are nothing to do with his employers at the Fleming estate, which controls the rights to the books.

"I'm really sorry my comment about Idris Elba have caused offense. That wasn't my intention," he said. "I was asked in my interview if Idris Elba would make a good James Bond. In the article I expressed the opinion that to my mind Adrian Lester would be a better choice but I'm a writer not a casting director so what do I know?"
"Clumsily, I chose the word 'street' as Elba's gritty portrayal of DCI John Luther was in my mind but I admit it was a poor choice of word. I am mortified to have caused offense."

I had forgotten that the Goldfinger jacket had peak lapels. I still don't love them on a white dinner jacket. Shawl just seems more appropriate. I also object to Indy's choice of a wing collar with a white jacket. To me, white jacket = button down collar. I think we can all agree on that. Right? Right? Anybody? Bueller?
edit: Never mind! It just occurred to me that a shawl collar doesn't have a buttonhole! Of course it needs to be a peak lapel if he's going to wear the carnation! I'm so stupid and promise never to talk about men's formal wear again.

Poster is pretty plain to me. Cool to see the comparison with Connery though.

Actually, there are a number of shawl collars that feature a buttonhole. Tom Ford, in particular...

No kidding.
Personally, I hate PC recasting. Bond has an iconic image and that is based on what Ian Fleming created. You don't just change that because someone wants to be politically correct and shock the world.
Gay Bond, Female Bond, Black Bond - all stupid ideas because, right or wrong societally, they change who Bond fundamentally is. James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of movies. Any significant change would make him a different character to a huge percentage of the audience and would not be accepted. And rightly so - Bond is larger than life. You can't just make him a grey haired, overweight 50 year old white guy any more than you could make those other changes I mentioned that have occasionally been suggested in the media by the PC crowd.
Daniel Craig fits in with the Bond image that people have accepted for the last 62 years (53 in the movies). Fleming created the perfect Bond, and there is no reason to fix what isn't broken.
