Re: Summer 2012 Box Office Predictions!
I think avengers will outdo Dark Knight in the end. It's got that "new" allure which provides the extra kick for a blockbuster, and while DK Looks very good, there's no Heath Ledger this time and the trailers are VERY dark -- Avengers is a more lighthearted movie.

Yes, I feel MUCH better about TDKR after the latest trailer. Still think it might be the least of the three Nolan Batman flicks, but no longer think it will disappoint...at least not as much as I did up until now.

Very surprised with the huge opening for Avengers, but glad to see it do so well. This should ultimately clear $450m easily, and I would not be surprised if it ends up beating out TDKR. After seeing the audience reaction to the Brave trailer, I would also not be surprised to see Brave beat out TDKR.
My predictions as of now:
1) The Avengers
2) Brave
3) TDKR
4) Amazing Spider-Man
5) Prometheus

There is no way Brave beats TDKR. It looks like a good movie, but it also looks like a girl's movie. I don't foresee a bunch of boys wanting their parents to take them to it.

I'd like to predict a $200 million opening weekend for the Avengers.

Agreed, also given that Toy Story 3 was the only Pixar movie to crack $400 million, and the only other movie to break $300 million is Finding Nemo. I'm not sure Brave has the hype like those movies based on the trailers so far, and i'd just have to guess Dark Knight would at the least be in the $400 million range.

But there's NO way it's BO will even come close to The Dark Knight Returns.

The internet seems to think it looks lame and not needed. Everyone I have spoken to about it IRL seems to think it looks "badass". I'm sure it will do just fine.

Re: Summer 2012 Box Office Predictions!
I realized I never put in my predictions...leaving Avengers out.
The Dictator: $75-$80
Battleship: $175-$185
Men In Black 3: $190-$200
Prometheus: $275-$285
Brave: $180-$190
G.I. Joe 2: $140-$150
Spider-Man: $240-$250
Dark Knight Rises: $450-$460
Bourne Legacy: $90-$100
Total Recall: $110-$120
Expendables 2: $180-$190
-Dark Knight Rises will ultimately beat out the Avengers...but probably just barely.
-Spider-Man will beat out Brave and possibly Prometheus, although I gave Prometheus a slightly higher guess.
-Brave just looks like another weak Pixar entry and with movies like Spider-Man And Avengers this summer, I think a lot of kids would rather watch those.
-Bourne won't do great without Matt Damon, plus it's been too long and the series is no longer relevant.
-For whatever reason I can sadly see Battleship being the surprise summer hit, beating out MIB3, GI Joe 2, Expendables 2, Total Recall and Prometheus.

I think Avengers will win the summer with $550+. Word-of-mouth is going to be huge on this one. TDKR a close second. Brave will do well at over $250.
I think Spider-Man and Prometheus will ultimately disappoint. I predict around $250 for both.

2. It's Spider-man
3. It's Spider-man
Until this week, Marvel's highest grossing property. While it's not going to be Avengers or TDKR levels of box office, it will do extremely well.
